Exactly. This project has clearly fallen into the wrong hands.

RE: NEW stadium construction
I'm wondering if the tax bill is being figured into this. Think all schools will see a drop in contributions. I'm not very excited for how this is going. If you can't do better, wait and build the bank account. That's what we tell our kids when they're looking at houses.

RE: NEW stadium construction
YES. Laziness seems to be the word that best describes this ad. They're too lazy to try and build a new donor base they're too lazy to hire appropriate coaches IE basketball they are too lazy to build us an appropriate football stadium everything seems to come down to laziness. Why are we not building and excited student base? Why is our donor base not growing? Why is our attendance falling? Why are we being sold a bill of goods on a new stadium and consistently come out with messages that further and further downgrade the product? Why have we not been to the NCAA tournament in over 5 years?

Donations that were made in response to all the empty promises, starting with the 30k waterfront stadium, should be returned. No ethics whatsoever. The whole thing was a money grab.

Love how Wod said in the old DP article that we would build the nicest 28-30,000 seat stadium in the country. What BS. I understand why the location changed. But the vision should not.

This is the disconcerting feeling I'm starting to get. Not sure if it's from the admin, the Board, or a collection of the biggest donors.

"The whole thing was a money grab." That's what big time college athletics is it appears. It's all about keeping up with the Jones. I think we moved up and many of us used to think College Athletics was about the students, providing a education through excellence in athleticism. But now that the curtain has been pulled back we're all a little disenfranchised. At least that's where I'm at. I'd rather us be prudent and not put any more debt on the students and have it take a little longer than get into a huge financial hole.
But ultimately the stadium is going to have to be replaced, if anything due to safety and costs of keeping up a nearly 100 year old concrete bench.

RE: NEW stadium construction
We need a better stadium regardless. Just seems we're building a nice FCS stadium that might compete with Richmond. UNCCs stadium currently is smaller but seems nicer than what we are planning. This will not be a game changer I'm afraid.

The only Jones we are keeping up with is Jeff Jones.

RE: NEW stadium construction
I just had a thought...Why not kill 2 birds with one stone. The Campus always needs more Dorms and we complain when the students don't show up for the games..The Solution...build a U shape Dorm and put the Stadium over top of it. Dual Purpose! Now the students are within stumbling distance with a "tailgate area" for themselves. My thought is that some of the hard costs could be passed on to the university as improvements and then they could use the $55 million for the upscale features that we need.

it just hit me
if we aim high
doesn't that mean that we're sure to miss. unless the target is like 3 miles away of course. in which case why not just drive over there.

Whoever is in charge of this whole building process should be made to stay in the guest/student section whole of the next season.

Well, honestly, there's no reason, in year 4 of FBS, we shouldn't have the ESPN Top 100 in their entirety playing for Dabo Swinney, Lane Kiffin, and Scott Frost, in a 150,000-seat version of Lane Stadium.
I'm with you: it's a process, not a light switch. There are most definitely things I wish would improve at a more hurried pace, but as long as things continue in an upward arc I'm content to watch the program advance.
Those who expect too much too soon are sure to be disappointed at every turn.

RE: NEW stadium construction
I disagree with the assessment. Sorry guys. Normally I am a realist and on the level with the optimistic among us. But if we are going to spend FIFTY FIVE MILLION DOLLARS and not increase our capacity by at least ten percent then what the heck are we doing? Chairbacks are cool but we don't need them. We need more seats. And better video boards. And something to draw in recruits. Fancy toilets and easier lines for chicken fingers aren't getting us anywhere.

RE: NEW stadium construction
HM reports that we'll get something like FAU stadium. FAU is 30k far from 20k. Took out 10k seats and the large pressbox this is what we get.
