FCC to MLS?
What exactly is happening today? Is the mls announcing who is going to mls or just more of the teams kissing their asses today?

RE: FCC to MLS?
Quote:Four cities will be competing for the next two MLS expansion slots that are scheduled to be announced before the end of the year.

MLS announced on Wednesday that the following four expansion bids (listed in alphabetical order) will make formal presentations to MLS Commissioner Don Garber and the league's Expansion Committee on Dec. 6 in New York:

Cincinnati
Detroit
Nashville
Sacramento

Following the presentations on Dec. 6, a meeting of MLS’s Board of Governors on Dec. 14 in New York City will have additional discussions on expansion with ownership representatives from every MLS club.

"The leaders of the Cincinnati, Detroit, Nashville and Sacramento MLS expansion ownership groups have bold visions and innovative plans for their clubs, stadiums and their involvement in their respective communities," Commissioner Garber said in a league statement. "We are pleased these highly-respected business and sports leaders have been so determined to bring Major League Soccer to their cities. We have been greatly encouraged by the progress that all four of these groups have made and we are looking forward to their presentations."

The four ownership groups above were among 12 markets that submitted formal bids in January for a total of four expansion slots as part of the league's expansion to 28 teams. Los Angeles Football Club, which kicks off in 2018, will be the league's 23rd club, while expansion discussions continue in Miami.

The league made it clear that while only Cincinnati, Detroit, Nashville and Sacramento are being considered for the next two expansion teams, all remaining markets are under consideration for the following two expansion clubs that will be announced at a later date. Those include Charlotte, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Raleigh/Durham, St. Louis, San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa/St. Petersburg.

RE: FCC to MLS?
Am I missing something, wouldn't FC need the stadium deal figured out first before they could be selected? What happens if they get selected and the stadium falls through?

That's why they got the approvals for Oakley before this deadline. Worst case scenario they can proceed in Oakley but it seems like they just wanted that in their back pocket and still want to pursue the West End if granted a franchise. I have a feeling when they're passed over they'll try to proceed with the west end site for the next time around. There's just so many hoops to jump through where you couldn't have a green light on that site by this deadline.

IF they are going to do it, I'd prefer the West End Site if for no other reason to set up an anchor on that side of the city to build around.

RE: FCC to MLS?
I thought I read that the MLS had approved Nippert as a "temporary site" if they were to select FCC this go around?

Yes but they will need a temporary home regardless of which site they choose. Many don't think FCC is getting this time anyway so they'll have time to further their plans before the next teams are added.

RE: FCC to MLS?
The wildcard is attendance. Nashville has nothing established. FCC, albeit in the USL, has averaged 21,696 a game which is around the MLS average attendance and has pushed past 33k for their max attendance. The entire world has taken note of FCC's popularity and it would go a long way if the MLS were able to add us.

RE: FCC to MLS?
It just seems weird to me that MLS would approve Nippert temporarily if FCC wasn’t getting in.

Nashville doesn’t even have a team yet right? Their hype seems totally based on one USMNT game. FCC has actual attendance numbers to prove theirs and the sports popularity here.

Seems like FCC to MLS is common sense so it’s a guarantee that it won’t happen.

Nashville has not played a match, they begin USL play this year. I believe the did host the national team this year to great reviews.
