2018 CAA MBB Transfers
VCU freshman 6'9" 255lb PF Lewis Djonkam, out of West Springfield HS, just got his release to transfer. Spent a year at Hargrave, before originally committing to Duquesne, then after their coaching change, switching to VCU. Another football player to boot...
Don't know his academic credentials, but he did have an original Wofford offer.
We're on a roll. Bring in a 4th big man for his sit out year, then be loaded for bear in two years, and the tag team needed with Mehkel for the two years beyond Nate and Andy.

He can't transfer to an A10 team, ODU or JMU. Wow, feel a little slighted, but it leaves the door open.

Do we have any games coming up with VCU? Might be as simple as that.

Mutts is a good pickup for UD.
Noticed Purdue big man grad transfer Jacquil Taylor is taking an official to ODU this weekend. He would have been a good add on to help this year. He, also, has a good chance of getting a 6th year waiver for a 2nd year of eligibility.

Ouch for ODU.
Assuming Wright-Foreman comes back, it puts Hofstra back into the picture for next season.

RE: 2018 CAA MBB Transfers
For those who, during the Jack Whitman debate, wondered if it has happened before, here is an answer.
While it doesn't happen often, it did happen today. Michael Gilmore, the 6'10" forward, who played two years at VCU and then transferred out (to FGCU) when Will Wade was hired, is returning to VCU, as a Grad Transfer next season.
And that's my useless newsbite of the day...

Charleston picked up senior 6'3" SG, Joshua Floyd, from Savannah St. Assume a grad transfer and doesn't appear that he played last year, whether injury related or not. He had 13 pts and 3 assists against us two years ago.

I made this same mistake last year but when VC says “Charleston” they mean U. of Charleston in WV, a DII program. They’ll say “College of Charleston” when they mean the Cougars.

Potential grad transfers?
https://gradtransfertracker.com/potential-transfers-1/
Bigs of interest :
- Stone Gettings from Cornell? Big body (6'8 240lbs) that averaged 17 last year. Appears he is sitting out 18-19 to transfer next year. Prob not an option.
- Abdul Lewis from NJIT. 6'10 225lbs.
Averaged 12pts/8rebs

Martin and Gorham received their releases from Towson this morning. Martin has withdrawn from the draft.

We’ve been debating it but the article says he has only one year of eligibility left.

Maybe they had to wait for his final semester grades before admissions would give their official bless off.

Kind of surprised that he'd come here. Seemed like he had quite a few minutes for Wisconsin last year and he's not likely to supplant Knight as the starter for his senior year. Girlfriend in DC?

By all accounts he is good at and likes to shoot 3's. I'm pretty sure if he liked the campus on his visit, the coaches could show plenty of examples of the offense being a shooter's dream.
