Good pick up for NMSU

You never start can start the football season to early. Also, allows NMSU to schedule an additional home game. That helps with 2-1's deals. Wonder when Hawaii schedules Liberty?

I thought the 13 game rule only applied to games at Hawaii. No?

The year NMSU plays at Hawai'i, they can schedule a 13th game.

RE: Good pick up for NMSU
NMSU will be lucky to get 6 home games.

If you look at their schedules, they are really empty after September. They filled 2018 because of Liberty, but even with Liberty they will probably only have 5 home games, two against FCS in 2019. (there are very few remaining G5 options to come to Las Cruces and maybe none will fill any but the Sept. 28th slot in 2019, and require a return game by NMSU). Hawaii unfortunately is just another set of September games. This is their big problem, without a huge wad of cash like Liberty has to throw around.

That said, it's good for NMSU to get more western opponents. The 2021 schedule especially looks good from that stand point with 5 MWC and UTEP. But the same post September problem remains, and September is filled up.

I believe they will have to get a waiver, they are required 5 home games with 4 being FBS and 1 being FCS. Granted I could see a waiver for 2019, UMASS is still needs two games, in theory the could do the H/H to help both teams get to 5 home games in 2019 or 2019/20 H&H. The extra game year could be a 2nd FCS Home game for the 13th to get 6 home games.

I wasn't worried about a waiver, just what NMSU fans will think about season tickets for five home games, including against Liberty, Incarnate Word and say (picking a name out of the hat) Prairie View A&M

RE: Good pick up for NMSU
I think NMSU will be able to fill out the 2019 schedule OK. Currently the schedule is sitting at 3 home (including 1 FCS) and 6 away, but schools have been willing to work with us. There is the chance that a game could be moved to accommodate the front end of another home and home. There are plenty of schools that are willing to play us H/H, so just a matter of getting the right fit.

But certainly it is tight - not the easiest schedule to make work. Liberty definitely helps us in 2018 and 2019.

And I think NMSU fans will be OK, though not thrilled, with 5 home games each year. That is probably going to be reality for a while. That is where the 2018 schedule is. If NMSU can stay around the .500 mark, then folks will be happy - especially if at least one of those wins is against UTEP or UNM.

Wishing the best for NMSU. Have to think some SB teams will be willing to help with transition to Indy. Seeing how BYU has scheduled UMASS and Liberty, have to think they will schedule NMSU.

I know UMass and NMSU have been in talks and are working on scheduling games. Just a matter of time before it's announced. Lots of shuffling to do.

ULL was suppose to be the other home game for NMSU in 2019, but they picked up someone else. Per the contract, it is their responsibility to find NMSU another D1 opponent. If they don't they will owe NMSU some money.

UMass just announced its series with NMSU. 2020 through 2023, back and forth starting in Amherst.

Hawaii has future home games scheduled vs:
Wisconsin
Oregon
Arizona (2 home games)
Vanderbilt
Arizona St
Oregon St
Army
Navy
BYU
Some years Hawaii will have 8 home games, the only school in all of FBS to have 8 home games in 2020.
Nice.

RE: Good pick up for NMSU
Upon further reflection NMSU has some awful scheduling
2018: only 5 home games. 7 Road. FCS and 2 games with Liberty
2019:only 3 home games. 6 Road games. FCS, Liberty (2nd game again vs Liberty)
The UMASS trip will be awful for both schools.

NCAA rules state at a Minimum they are required to have 5 home games, 4 FBS and 1 FCS. Odds are 6 home games will be the max for most Indy's not named ND, Army or BYU.

Hmmm...yes for Notre Dame and Army. No for BYU. BYU hasn’t gotten more than 6 home games as an in Indy and they have some future schedules that show 6 Road games and only 3 home games so far...I have a website I do that’s devoted to future schedules. It’s my thing.

Actually it’s 5 home games and one can be on a neutral field so only 4 “home” games are required, I know it’s tricky for you being an ACC fan where Da U fake college football team Miami resides. Miami has never owned a stadium or played a home game. They would have to shut their football program down if the NCAA banned the use of schools borrowing NFL stadiums. And yes, I’m aware of USF & Temple being forced to shut down football if that rule is implemented. I’m totally fine with that.

BB777, what the hell are you own? Yes, the neutral sight game may count if the Indy is listed as a home team. I was just stating they are supposed to be 5 home games, an FCS is allowed to be used. So in theory, yes it could be 4 home games if there is neutral site "Home" game. The rest of you comment I have no clue what you are talking about or even why bring it up. 01-wingedeagle

Hey msm96wolf,
I’m sorry. The Arky St Miami thread was still hot on my mind when I posted this to you. I let it spill over to here. My bad.

No problem. life is to short to get upset of a message board. I just love college football. For me, the real ACC died when Syracuse and Pitt were added. P5 is just a corporate entities now. I see alot of the AAC dealing with what the ACC dealt with starting in the 90's.

Now back to the topic, Fresno and NMSU just signed a H/H for 2019/20 http://www.fbschedules.com/2018/02/new-m...ll-series/
