I don't get this.

Your saying Houston is better than UC? Because UC at home is pretty damn tough.

What big on Houston is better than Kyle Washington? What big is better than Gary Clark? Who do they have guard Jacob Evans?

I don't think anybody is saying Houston is better than UC.

That said, Houston absolutely can win this game if they play well. They probably need UC to have a subpar game as well but that's true for most really good teams at home.

And the game isn't played on paper. Yeah, UC has more "talent," but both teams are greater than the sum of the parts. It will definitely take a good game from Houston but this UC team is due for a loss at home.

It'll come to Ohio State on our first game next year.....

No, we want you to beat them. 04-cheers

If you must have a home loss WSU would love to do the honors on the 18th.

Really depends on if KBD and Evans leave or stay. But yea, that game looks scary if Evans leaves.

Bates-Diop is all but gone. He has a degree, and he's been terrific this year. Even if we lose Evans, it'll be a good game. Ohio State will be awfully young next year.

you had us below temple too at 6 (you had us battling for 6 or 7 with uconn)..to be fair to you, you said 4 was maybe possible for houston if davis stepped up and some of the new players turned out all right (justin was the one adamant that we would suck for sure)

also foster was injured 3 games ago, houston was higher in the standings before he was lost...and ucf's problem isnt tacko or taylors injury but the fact none of them can shoot..they dont have anyone to replace the production of matt williams..they wouldnt have finished very high even if they had everyone healthy.
Houston would have still likely been pushing for third even if everyone was healthy

SMU peaked at #22 in Kenpom. Houston hasn't touched that yet.

And I said Houston would be worse offensively without Dotson. They are. They are almost 30 spots worse on offense. I also didn't expect UCF to lose Dawkins, Taylor and now Tacko.

You are very confident going into the nations longest home winning streak. You act like you've dominated teams on the road this year. The reality, houston sucks on the road.

your best road win is #147 Saint Louis who is trash. When you've played top 100 teams on the road this season you are 0-2.

Add in that the reason no one has been able to stop your offense all year is because.... You've yet to play a top 70 defense all season long.

The 3 best defenses you've played this year were:
#75 SLU
#79 Providence
#74 Wichita State.

This isn't just the best defense you've faced all year, its the best defense you've faced in the last 18 years (since 2002 at least).

You can chill on the confidence. If you beat us, I'll gladly say congrats. But you have very little reason to be this confident in our gym.

anyone who says we are worse on offense is blind...you rely to much on stats without context
all but 3 games this season for houston have been blowouts..houston calls of its horses 5-8 minutes left in the game for almost all our games. 100% of non biased people think our offense is drastically better this year

and while you are touting your stats..if you beat houston we'd be your best win according to kenpom. so while you are saying we haven played a team like cincy..cincy hasnt beaten a team like houston all season

im picking cincy in a close one...but think the coogs can easily pull an upset if the shooters come ready to play

yep, that's what I was getting at. UH needs to play great and Cincy have a B game for there to be a chance.

IMO. UC would have to have more like a D game. They'd have to shoot 30%, not grab any offensive rebounds and just not show up defensively.

But the good thing about this UC team so far is that they've yet to come into a bigger game unprepared, especially at home. I mean we tore meat from SMU and they were fully healthy.

I mean, Temple went into Houston and gave them a hell of a game. Temple came into BB&T and looked like they wanted to get back on the plane after 10 minutes or so

do you actually watch games or just simply go by stats???

houstn blew out temple for most of the game...houston was up HUGE, then our center was injured badly, so houston took the air out of the ball, not trying to injure anyone else before wichita (the next game)..houston was up double digits with 2minutes left in the game.. houston butchered the free throws in the end but that game wasnt close as the score.. houston wins by 13 to 15 if we make free throws (add points) and killed their momentum/belief

i dont know how anyone can watch that game and think they gave houston a "hell of a game" it was one sided 99% of the game till injuries ..that why our starting center didnt play in wichita part one and limited minutes vs tulane

i clearly noted we had 3 close games...you literally just named all 3 of them....
funny quote from sampson after one of the loss was how he was happy it was a close game despite losing ..and how few of our games are close and need experience in that..we are blowing teams out or they are blowing us out (wichita part 1)

sidenote: i meant 4, include liberty game 3

I agree we look better, but the game result will tend to confirm or annul our assessment.

Last season ended on a whimper. We lost six out of the last ten regular games - including a 41 point final game pounding by SMU.

IMO, last season ended on a whimper mostly (not completely) b/c the Lawsons quit sharing the ball, started padding their stats, Dad was looking to get them transferred, and they caused internal strife with Markel and others.

The same dynamic doesn't exist this year, unless you assign the majority of the blame onto Tubby for last year's collapse, which the situation doesn't seem to suggest, nor does history.

Interesting assessment. I haven't been paying incredibly close attention to the Tubby debate among Memphis fans, but my guess is that this opinion puts you in the minority among the Memphis fan base?

Absolutely. At least the part that posts on message boards.

To be clear, I am no defender of Tubby. Last season blew up, and he is the HC, so he has to be partly to blame. I just try to be fair in my assessments.

A lot of Memphis fans want Tubby gone, I just don't know what percentage. Attendance continues to plummet, but any good streak or good opponent, and attendance jumps back up.

My gut feeling is our admin gives him one more year to turn it around. He also needs a recruiting win or two.

Just looked something up ... In Cincys first 8 conference games, only 1 game has been against a team in the top half of Offensive offensive efficiency in the conference.

They obviously won that game ... but if you are going to start throwing out numbers about how crappy of teams that Houston has faced in an attempt to make their offense look worse ... They can do the same with your defensive numbers.

7 of the last 10 conference games for UC are against teams in the top half of the conference in offensive efficiency.

RE: 1/31 AAC Basketball Games
When UH played WSU in Houston, the referees were pretty scrutinous, calling lots of traveling and light contact. Cincy does play tougher, so it'll be interesting to see how much contact they allow, and whether it disrupts UH like it has pretty much everyone else so far. Rob Gray stepped out of his shooting funk for a couple games but seems to have relapsed into it again. If the Cincy D focuses on him and smothers him, I don't look for him to break out of the slump, so it will come down to how hot will Davis, Davis Jr., and Brooks will be shooting, and whether Brady has gotten his confidence back to work the low post. White is a freshman who has been stepping up his game quite a bit, but this is going to be a real test for him also.

The Coogs don't have to win this one in Cincy to stay in contention for a NCAA berth, we still get them again later in Houston. But if the Coogs do pull off the upset, I'm curious whether the NCAA would penalize Cincy versus rewarding the Coogs, the way they penalized shocktop for losing to UH.

They probably need UC to have a subpar game as well but that's true for most really good teams at home.

yep, that's what I was getting at.

I pay 20 bucks a month for a Synergy account (the same tool that Kelvin Sampson uses to scout his opponents) . Specifically so I can watch every UC game twice and re-watch nearly every conference game.

I'd guess I've watched at least 20 more hours of UC basketball than you have.

And which Starting center are you referring too? Brady? Brady would have beaten Wichita State?

Ahh So Houston is better than Wichita state. Got it. If only they had Brady they'd have whooped them at home.

Either way, looking forward to the game on Wednesday. UC hasn't played anyone with a pulse in a while.

you had us below temple too at 6 (you had us battling for 6 or 7 with uconn)..to be fair to you, you said 4 was maybe possible for houston if davis stepped up and some of the new players turned out all right (justin was the one adamant that we would suck for sure)

also foster was injured 3 games ago, houston was higher in the standings before he was lost...and ucf's problem isnt tacko or taylors injury but the fact none of them can shoot..they dont have anyone to replace the production of matt williams..they wouldnt have finished very high even if they had everyone healthy.

UC played 5 top 50 offenses this year, 4 of them scored under a point per possession.
