we have 2 espn 100 6'5+ SG, somewhere between them will replace grays production with their combined stats (hinton & jearau)

fabian white is expected to be better than devin davis (the game announcers/coaches no stop talk about his potential)
we are adding also adding a top 150 pf (brison gresham)

for vanbeck: according to sampson antoine davis is the best shooter he has seen since he came to college 4 years, in his signing day interview..a different coaching staff posted on twitter he was the best shooter in the entire recruiting cycle

and note that we are red-shirting a player Sampson said he expected to start (won texas mr basketball last year year) solely because he missed the first 2 weeks of the season (and 2 months prior) to an injury and sampson says playing too many players is horrible for defensive chemistry (already rotating 10), and didnt feel like figuring it how to work him in midseason. despite sampson saying he was good enough to start

The umass guys slipped my mind for a second. houston a top 20 team next year

I agree. I think UH is heading back to the national spotlight. They have always had a good program and you can see them on the rise again.

I just wonder how long Sampson puts up with with low fan base turnout.

He could build Houston up, leave it better then he found it but it will be hugely disappointing if they don’t start selling tickets in a brand new arena.

You just wonder if he has p5 job on his mind

Well lets pretend to entertain your doubts the fans will start coming to the games in the new facility...

So coach Sampson came to UH for a reason. Having lived here and coaching for the Rockets, he knew it was gonna be easy to recruit in this city, and could build a winner in a short time. So short, he even decided to honor the scholarships of the players he inherited instead of suggesting they go play JC ball or something, without worrying about those 2 years they had left. He's a classy guy like that.

And the fact that the recruiting is pretty fruitful here won't be lost on any coaches hoping to fill the vacancy should he decide to hang it up, but from what I see, he doesn't look to be the type to "move on" to anywhere other than retirement if he decides he's done here.

I would be more worried about shocktop coach leaving for a P5 before Sampson does. Speaking of, if you needed a silver lining for losing to SMU, UH, and now Temple, there you have it. Your coach is safe for now. 03-lmfao

Why are you implying that those losses were bad? I was led to believe it was just the P0W6R EFF6CTTM!! We had no choice but to wilt under the unbelievable pressure of the 7th rated conference (.0156 pts. from the MVC) in the country!!!1111eleven

A funny side note: A couple years ago in the NCAA Tourney when we trucked the ChicKUNhawks in front of all their adoring fans (in their backyard), they had just won their 11th consecutive Big12-2 conference championship. That year the Big12-2 was the #1 RPI conference in the country, #1 KenPom conference in the country (and it wasn't close). The Big12-2 got 7 bids with an average seeding of 5.7. Five teams were ranked in the AP top 25 poll.

And... we trucked 'em by almost 20 points in front of a hostile crowd.

Remember that accomplishment next time you address a Shocker fan.

And get that bass outcha mouf!

UC beat a #1 seed, three 3 seeds, and a 4 seed in just over one month. WSU didn’t do that over 6 Tourneys.

Hehe! I love strolls down memory lane too.

In fact, in 1986 I was saying the same thing... well sorta almost: "two years ago Phi Slama Jama was tearing it up! Y'all need to show the mighty Coogs some respek! Just 'cause we're losin' right now don't mean nothin'. Sure we play in the sucky SWC basketball conference, they're draggin' us down, but we deserve respek!"

I'm having deju vu all over again!

Maybe. But he attracted the recruits. Kinda like Ollie. Not sure Sampson is as successful on the recruiting trail.

I have no out right reason to think he is going to leave but if you watch his pregame and post game comments, (I watch nearly all the pressers for every team in this conference, dong ask me why) he just seems frustrated that 1. The local media only thought they were good after beating WSU state and that he doesn’t get much support, and I don’t blame him on the fan thinks. Aren’t tickets like 5 bucks this season?

Sampson isn’t leaving. Like I said, he’s still tainted from that IU scandal where he was President of national basketball coaches at the same time.

Actually I think that's the pricing for groups of 10 or more, otherwise the GA tix are a whopping $15. 03-drunk

But c'mon, why pretend you're concerned coach Sampson might leave when it's obvious you're (still) just trying to take some losing frustration out on UH and the lowest hanging fruit you can latch onto is basketball attendance?

You know, I think the minimum is 100 mentions, so I guess we can look forward to at least what, 97 more posts on it? You should just cut n paste to your clipboard to save some typing.

Must be a really slow news day in shocktop land. COGS

It's tough to overwhelm (or even get stops) teams defensively if you can't keep up.

Same thing against SMU and Houston. Those teams have a multitude of athletic guards/wings.

No.

We've matched up against the best athletes in the country for years now and never did we look to be lacking in any glaring fashion. Sure we weren't as athletic as Kentucky but we were in their range. We certainly didn't have their average height. If anything, we pushed our "superior" opponents, they didn't push us.

Watch the following videos and honestly assess if it looks like we are struggling to keep up with the speed/athletic expression of the game. Pay particular attention to the first video as that is our EXACT same team right now

These comments about Wichita State "learning some sort of lesson" in the ACC/B12 AKA the AAC is hilarious if not maddening. Great troll job fellas! 04-clap2

This is the insufferable arrogance of these homers.

All these best athletes they’ve matched up to...generally THEY’VE LOST TO! During these past 6 tourney invites, they’ve beaten only 3 ranked teams. You heard that right. THREE! A 1 seed Gonzaga, 2 seed Kansas, 2 seed Ohio State. Over 6 Tourneys. The rest was a hedge podge of 7-13 seeds. They even beat a 13 seed LaSalle in the E8 get to the Final Four. Teams of much lesser quality than the Top of the AAC!

Cincy beat nearly 3 times the ranked teams in 2012 alone than WSU has in 6 Tourneys...while coming out of the Big East and making the S16.

WSU was a mid major program that put together that magical team that thru performance and luck...had that magical season. All those players are gone and the talent they attract is good enough to run the MVCs. But not the AACs!

The rest is smoke and mirrors.

Is Cincinnati actually gonna win 2 games this year?

With all do respect to the forum. These are the facts. Nothing will change in that regard next season. The way to the NCAAs always has...and always will...run thru Cincinnati.

This will be cinci's first AAC regular season title, no? If evans leaves mick better get a damn good grad transfer in to have any prayer of repeating

Edit: should add they also havent won an aac conference tourney
Just a damn solid and consistent program, experiencing their first elite season in a while

Wow: Ok here it is.

WSU: 2 Final Fours-- 4 Elite Eight--6 Sweet Sixteen-- 14 Tourney Appearances--4 Conf. Tourney Champs. and 13 Conf. regular season champs.

Cincy: 2 National Titles-- 6 Final Fours-- 8 Elite eights-- 13 Sweet Sixteen-- 31 Tourney appearances--10 conf. tourney champs--27 ( soon to be 28 ) regular season champs.
