Futures are what you need to watch before the bell is open. Futures on the dow have it down 300 points tomorrow already and the market closed just an hour ago.

Gold is up about 8% this year. If gold starts to go hyperbolic we are in for a correction as big money is rotating out of stocks.

Looks like the XIV is gonna get liquidated. Any VIX move up 80% can trigger that. This is gonna be a massive scandal if it happens.

What is going to happen to the crypto ETFs?

No stomach for that at this point lol.

Algorithms are based on standards and markers that humans program into it. Someone didnt set their bid/ask floors well enough.

Yup. I would expect that we will flirt with that 2535 level. If it holds at the 200 day moving average, you are gonna see a bunch of bids come in and have a nice rally.

The P/E of the SPX has fallen from 18.5 to almost 17 since Thursday. There are deals out there.....

I'm interested to see what happens with GM tomorrow. The have earnings tomorrow which are rumored to be pretty good. They have been down almost 8% in last week.

200 day MA for the dow is 22,721. We've got another 1600 points to go to test that one.

I feel 99% confident about a squeeze at open tomorrow. Only thing is you are going to see wide bid/ask spreads on all short positions at the bell. Wait until 9:43 once the equity markets stabilize for the morning and its $$$ on any popular liquid retail stocks.

I have a good 20+ years to build my 401k... Seeing the DOW drop like it has is pretty awesome. Everyone who knew anything about investing already knew that both stocks and bonds are overpriced due to the higher P/E rations and ultra low interest rates respectively. In a normal, healthy economy a 30 year mortgage should range between 6% - 8% depending on your credit rating.

These current rates are still too low for a healthy economy: https://www.wellsfargo.com/mortgage/rates/

The game in the crypto arena is to invest not in the individual crypto technologies but the mining companies. They'll have the technology to compete as the technology evolves.

Actually an international banking crisis could accelerate cryptos development if a lack of confidence exists in the banking system. We are a long way off from that point at the moment.

I was using the S&P 500 200 day MA.

I honestly think we go down to that and test it. It either holds and bids start coming in or we fly right through it.

I agree about the wide spreads. You saw it all day today too. My options values were jumping all over the place today.

A big however though. This XIV thing is scary. Its down 75% in after hours. That was a massively bought trade. That's a lot of margin that needs to be raised by selling if that happens. If it does cause a sell-off on top of what's already going on, we could hit the NYSE circuit breaker.

Nope. Cant have inflation while the world is in a deflationary cycle. What you have here is just another Fed bubble. The Fed has been inflating asset prices in the hope that the liquidity will finally lead to higher economic growth rate and increased economic investment.

BTC is at 7k, down 65% off all time highs, nothing we haven’t seen a half dozen times before. Still up over 600% in the past year. Only those that waited for the hyperbolic rise to get in are hurting.

Not financial advice, but ripple is centralized trash.

If you are buying stock through a 401K...these plans are buying shares at the same time each month and dollar cost averaging. A down turn is actually good for the long term investor because it allows you to buy shares cheaper. That is the beauty of dollar cost averaging. Generally there are more days when the market is down..than up and so you end up buying on more down days than up days. Warren Buffett has said many times that this is the way most people should invest for retirement.

Down 2000+ since Jan 26.

Market was over-heated. Still plenty of room left before I get nervous.

Yup. If you're not a day trader, this shouldn't send you to the ledge.

I had just done my quarterly rebalancing of my retirement account last week so guess I did some profit taking 04-rock

Well done. Lol, for me--the good news is I am totally out of the market and suffered no loss at all. The bad news is I have been out of the market for about 3 or 4 years....

Its a smart a move by the Fed. The average expansion lasts about 6 years and we are entering the 9th year of this recovery. The Fed needs to let rates tick up a bit, otherwise, they will have no bullets to fire when the next slow down rears its head.

As of now, the inflation rates are still in line with what we would expect in a normal economy. Now we will get to see the reverse of QE and QE2 because after the smoke clears and the interest rates are increased - you'll see those people who jumped out of bonds/CDs to seek higher returns in equity markets go back to their bonds/CDs.
