Do they serve alcohol at Houston games?

Well they do sell beer, but damn... $9 for something that barely qualifies as beer.

I bet Pony spent $36. lol

It's a shame SMU is without their two top scorers. They're solid without them but they'd be battling for second with them. I know Coogs and Mustangs aren't supposed to get along (Houston vs Dallas, public vs private, poor vs rich) but I've always liked SMU and some of my besties did blow on the Hilltop.

Proud how our team fought, but we just don't have any closers right now and UH had Rob Gray... If we had Shake it would have been a slugfest down to the wire.

Hoping that was Will Douglas' coming out party. He is finally playing with some confidence.

You can't expect to make the tourney when you lose your two best players mid-season (and only returning starters from last season). League race would be alot different right now with completely healthy SMU and UCF.

I will give the coach of Smu credit for a great game plan, but that was the worst we played all season and yet we still won. It was like getting your tooth pulled every possession watching smu. Oh well, can’t wait for the rematch in Dallas, hopefully Shake will be healthy.

RE: 2/8 AAC Basketball Games
SMUtangs got some crazy good shooters. Even their big guy was getting in on the 3-pt act. Their slow down game gave the Coogs a tough time getting defensive stops. I didn't think we'd be able to catch up because there were some stretches we were just trading 2's for their 3's.

I'm glad we got this one, but I'm not sure about the return trip to dallas, that's gonna be a tough battle up there, especially if they get their top scorer back.

Speaking of... maybe Sampson needs to let Brooks start getting some of Gray's minutes... dude was on fire and then Rob Gray would go and try and put the fire right back out tonight. I know he's a senior and trying to be a leader, but leaders don't let your guy sneak by and get the dish for the slam, and then act like it's someone else's fault. He did get that steal late to help ice the game, but at least hit your free throws. I think he was 3 of 5? Well, all will be forgiven if he shows up against cincy but they smothered him so bad up in cincy. I dunno.

Ok, I feel better. GO COOGS!

It is unfortunate for fans and players for their respective teams but also unfortunate for the AAC. The injuries probably cost the AAC a team in the NCAA Tourney.

ummm nooooo

brooks is spot shooter...
rob is a drastically better all around player....rob hasnt hit a shot longer than 4 feet in like 5 games and he is still doing 18 a game...
if brooks is off he is getting nothing, he went 0-8 vs usf

and ever thought the reason brooks was getting wide open looks is because they were focused on stopping gray?
brooks is a great compliment player, but you don't take minutes from your star for a spot shooter

I agree with everything you have said. Gray was slicing up the zone in the second half and either dishing to Brooks for a wide open three, or taking the ball to the rack and scoring. Rob closed this game out for us. You don’t take minutes away from the AAC player of the year.

OK, very valid point.

I checked the minutes after I got home and saw Brooks got a good 32 minutes in the game. It felt like much less when watching the game.

Now that I can look back at the replay, it seems we were missing the usual scoring effort from both Davis' last night. That's 3 scoring punches we were missing in the first half and might have cost us if the 3rd one (Gray) didn't get it going somewhat eventually.

I will try to contain my concern for Gray's continued shooting slump (by his standard) and just hope he shows up for the games we'll really need him.

Grey was not much of a factor against UC. The Davis guys you have were very good against us if I recall correctly.
