Cuse's first Black Hoops player (Wilmeth Sidat-Singh) also played QB. Sad they had to obfuscate his true race to make him more palatable to northern and southern areas. He died in WW2...a true hero.

RE: Article on First Black to Play For Every ACC Basketball Team
The article lists the ACC schools alphabetically. I thought it would be interesting to see a chronological list.
1936 Syracuse
1951 Notre Dame
1955 Pitt
1962 Louisville
1963 Boston College
1965 Duke
1966 Florida State
........North Carolina
........Wake Forest
1967 Miami
........NC State
1968 Virginia Tech
1970 Clemson
........Georgia Tech
........Virginia
Not historically surprising that the northernmost schools in the league were the earliest to have black players. Also not too surprising, to me at least, that Catholic schools in general, and Jesuit schools in particular, were in the vanguard in recruiting black players. What was surprising to me, but shouldn't have been, was how late BC was to that party.
In the 50's, I remember black players at Fordham (my HS alma Mater). They weren't particularly good, but then neither were the Rams' white players. San Francisco won two national championships in '55 and '56 behind Bill Russell and Sam Jones, and dropped football because of the treatment accorded to their star football player, Ollie Matson. Both of those are Jesuit schools.
I played intramural football as a freshman at BC with John Austin, and had been very aware of his recruitment to BC by Bob Cousy. All I knew was that he was a great basketball player at DeMatha HS, but I was never aware he was BC's first black player.

Wade Houston played a key role in Denny Crum success, probably the best recruiter that the UofL has ever had. Crum, Jerry Jones & Houston was a phenomenal staff. It would have been nice to have Allan Houston here as well.
