Stadium just randomly dropped the MT vs Marshall game from their TV listings, so if that counts as news, there you go. Opposite direction of what you wanted probably.

One App fan talking to another about a basketball game:

Appy #1: "Remember that one time we beat Duke?"

Appy #2: "Sure do! It was a good day to wear powder blue!"

Appy #1: "Amen to that brother! Go 'eels!"

Appy #2: "Go 'eels!"

What's the infatuation with JMU by CUSA folks?

I understand they have a good athletic program, but wouldn't CUSA want to avoid the reputation of bringing in FCS schools/start-ups?

There isn't any from most of us, just a few throwing up wild scenarios. If some had their way, we would look like a FCS league in a heartbeat. Schools like USM, Marshall and so forth have fought too hard to ascend, just to accept a league that looks like a combined southern/CAA conference.........

And ridiculous scenarios at that. Adding JMU/Liberty would be just plain dumb. The only people I have seen advocating for JMU are ODU fans... (and perhaps a couple of Charlotte fans as well).

FWIW---This afternoon the Sunbelt will be announcing an early renegotiation of their ESPN deal that was set to expire in 2019-2020.

So basically the Sun Belt is getting shoved onto some new online ESPN+ thing that will cost a monthly subscription to watch. Sounds like an awful deal for them with respect to exposure. Will see how it bears out when the money comes out.

FWIW, our AD said that our TV deal should be announced during the CUSA tournament.

The advantage that ESPN+ will have over ESPN3 is that game are no longer going to be blacked out. You pay $5 a month and you can watch national broadcasts like Ohio State and Michigan or Georgia and Florida just like you can watch Sun Belt games there.

I'd still rather be on ESPN+ than CBS Sports and Bein, but that's just me.

And yes, with the addition of a CCG the payouts are going to go up.

That's absolutely not true unless the Ohio St Michigan game is being moved to ESPN+. Which it isn't of course.

ESPN+ isn't going to get you ESPN, ESPN 2 and ESPNU. It's separate. If you have those ESPN channels already you can then add ESPN+ streaming for an additional $5 or you can have ESPN+ only without the other ESPN channels for the $5 fee. But you most certainly do not get all the ESPN content for $5. So, take it all in you will only get the ESPN+ content only.

What my fellow Sun Belt brethren meant to say is OSU-Michigan will be streaming on ESPN+. But only the multiangle, Jim Harbaugh Khaki pants cam, and Brutus Buckeye go pro cam. etc. etc. Not the ESPN TV broadcast of the game.

Now I know this is going to surprise a lot of people, because Im asking about basketball, a sport I really dont care for, but will this 5 dollars a month also cover other sports? MBB, WBB, and Baseball? If all the schools games are on this platform for all of these then its a GREAT deal for a fan of that school, but probably not as good for "General" exposure.

I'm happy about ESPN+ because I've been an MLS Live subscriber. For $15 a year less than I've been paying I'm getting all my MLS Live content plus Sun Belt games.

ESPN has said there will also be MLB and NHL content on the service.

So if CUSA was on this plan for $5 a month I would be able to watch every FAU Football, MBB, WBB, and Baseball game if I wanted?

Or am I wrong?

RE: Any word on C-USA tv deals?
We're going to predominantly be going with Stadium and Facebook I suspect.

I will accept it. There is no doubt the potential is there to grow your brand there where it is not with ESPN+.

I've said it before, but what's happening there on Facebook with Stadium is paramount to what the Sun Belt was in the early 80s. The question I have is how long does Facebook let this ride? Allowing another company to monetize their own platform. Facebook will either start doing this themselves or impose heavy fees to a "network" like Stadium to relay live content through the Facebook platform.

What Stadium has done is brilliant. They only have to produce the front end. They don't have to have any of the back end technology like servers, bandwidth, etc. as they piggy back on Facebook's platform.

If all our content that was previously put on ESPN3 is switching to ESPN+, I don't think we will lose all that much exposure. I've never met a casual sports fan that perused the ESPN3 streams for something to watch. Most of the people that were tuning in on ESPN3 are fans of the school who are going to be paying for ESPN+. Then we still have the built in ESPN weekday games to get that general exposure.
