-Western still has the tiebreaker over ODU via head to head.
-FAU has the tiebreaker over FIU since they have a better overall record after the season split.

As of today, FIU would have the tiebreaker as they're 1-0 against Louisiana Tech and we're 0-1.

Far and away? I don't think so. ODU barely won vs Marshall at home, Marshall beat Middle at home, first WKU game was a fluke and the beginning of the flu and injury disaster we had which carried into ODU. Second game could have gone either way at WKU. On a neutral floor, Marshall has just as much chance to win this tourney as ODU or WKU. While Middle is the favorite, in no way is WKU or ODU "far and away" better.

ODU wasup 20+ in that game and let up thinking it was over. If I was a Marshall fan, Iwould not look too fondly pf that game

Marshall is a good offensive team. They do not look close to the top 3 in conference. They are roughly 100 while the top 3 are top 50

ODU doesn't scare me at all. Congratz on the 82-76 win in Norfolk. That game was played with Jon Elmore and Jarrod West with the flu, Ajdin Penava didn't play because he was hurt in the WKU game a week earlier. Also Marshall is a different team at home.

Some of you guys were talking about the tourney, which is a neutral court, right?

We just played with flu guys this week and won by a combined 75 points or something so i dont reallyput much stock in excuses.

Whether ODU scares you or not, its pretty clear they are the better team. If 6 point losses float your boat, i guess almost every team you have beaten in the last month could say marshall doesnt scare them. Ypu guys lost to UTSA and snuck by some bad teams.

UTSA was on fire and also beat "far and away" better wku that week. And it'll be pretty clear on Thursday. MTSU is the best team in CUSA, and Marshall beat them at home. ODU is nit nearly as good as middle.

Updated today. I believe the tiebreaker between UNT and FIU is down to their results vs UAB unless I misread somewhere.

1 vs 4
2 vs 3

So, #1 will always have to beat the 4 and either the 2 or 3.

While 2 will always have to beat the 1 and 3 and/or the 3 has beat the 1 and 2.

Yeah, that's no different. You could argue there's a pretty steep drop off after #8 though this year making number one more important. 2,3 &4 will likely face UNT, UTSA and UAB in their first game. I'd rather face FIU for sure but that might just be my perception and is no different than prior years except maybe the "dangerous" teams in the conference go a little deeper than years past.

As of now WKU if both teams win their first game. If Western beats Middle and neither lose on Sat then they'll switch the 1 and 2 spots.

Actually it will come down to who between Marshall and UTSA earns the 4th seed. If it is Marshall then WKU owns the tiebreaker with MTSU for the 1 seed since they lost to Marshall. If it is UTSA then MTSU holds the tiebreaker and would be the 1 seed since WKU lost to UTSA.

Both WKU and MTSU beat ODU...it doesn't matter that WKU is 2-0 and MTSU is 1-0. According to WKU SID that tie breaker is based on winning percentage and not number of wins.

'Twould be nice if fans could see the tiebreaker on the CUSA website. The tiebreaker should be available for ALL to see prior to the beginning of the season.

RE: 2018 CUSA Tourney Bracket Updated 2.27
Here is the 2016 tiebreaker:

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/c-us...eakers.pdf

2016 Conference USA Men’s Basketball Tiebreakers
Tiebreaker. Ties in winning percentage, and thus for seeding positions shall be broken according to
the following;
1. Between TWO teams
a. Head to head
b. If still tied, compare records versus teams with highest winning percentage in
Conference play and descending order until tie is broken. When arriving at a
set of tied teams (i.e., winning percentage) while comparing records, use each
team's record versus the COLLECTIVE tied teams as a group (prior to that
group’s own tiebreaking process).
c. If still tied, seeding will be determined by draw (*).
2. Between THREE or more teams
a. Conduct a mini round robin among the tied teams. Team with the highest
winning percentage will receive the higher seed (#).
b. If a three-way tie still exists after conducting the round robin, follow Step 1b,
then Step 1c if needed. If at any point the number of teams tied reduces to
two, steps 1 a-c are followed.
(#) When comparing records against single teams or groups of teams, the highest winning
percentage prevails
, even if the number of games played is unequal.
(*) If a DRAW is necessary, the following will be used:
A single slip of paper with names representing each of the tied institutions will be placed into a
container and will be drawn in order of seeding from highest (better seed) to lowest.

Despite the monkey on our back of NEVER beating Middle....I think I would rather play them than WKU. WKU just seems like a bad matchup for us and they are playing really good ball right now. Only team this year to really trounce us in a loss. But, I would imagine to win the whole thing we will be playing both of them regardless if seeds hold in other games. Doesn't really give me the warm and fuzzies.

but it would be nice if we could see it in writing (for the current season)

Well I'm sure they're right. So WKU/MT would have same record against ODU at #3. MT has a loss to Marshal and WKU has a loss to UTSA so if Marshall is #4, WKU is #1 and if UTSA is #4 MT is #1? All assuming Western beats Middle this Thursday.

Correct...not same record but same winning percentage vs ODU. WKU 2-0 while MTSU is 1-0. So both teams are 100% against Monarchs. MTSU 1-1 for 50% against Marshall while WKU is 2-0 for 100%. MTSU 1-0 vs UTSA while WKU is 0-1.

RE: 2018 CUSA Tourney Bracket Updated 2.27
2. Each team's record vs. the team with the highest winning percentage in the final regular
season standings (or in the case of a tie for the championship, the next highest winning
percentage in the regular season standings) continuing down through the standings until
one team gains an advantage.

a. When arriving at another set of tied teams (i.e., same winning percentage) while
comparing records, use each team's record against the collective tied teams as a
group (prior to that groups own tie-breaking procedures), rather than the
performance against the individual tied teams.

b. When comparing records against a single team or a group of teams, the higher
winning percentage shall prevail, even if the number of games played against the
team or group is unequal (e.g., 2-0 is better than 3-1); in the case of tied
percentages vs. the team or group of 1.000 or .000 the following shall apply: 2-0
is better than 1-0; 0-1 is better than 0-2.

Going by the 2nd tiebreaker it has two parts you must get by before going to the 3rd

So if Middle and Western is tied you move down to #2 and that's winning % over team #3 and if you are both still tied...

you go to part B of tiebreaker #2 and that is where the number of games played vs the 3rd place school comes in.

Western's 2-0 over ODU beats Middle's 1-0

So there is no need to move down any farther and the 4th place team has no bearing on the tiebreaker

I think those are old rules WKUYG. No such provision in the 2016 rules linked above. If you reply or edit my post with the link you can see there's an "06" in there which leads me to believe it's from 2006.
