RE: ICYMI - News and Notes
Thank you for the donations. I have Asperger's syndrome, which is slight autism. For most of elementary school, I was diagnosed with a disability, but a specific one was not identified. I even traveled from where I live near Hofstra (I am about 5.5 miles on a line or 8.6 miles on roads away from the Mack Sports Complex) to Johns Hopkins to be evaluated.

RE: ICYMI - News and Notes
Scott, thank you for wallpapering the internet with this. And as with everything on the site, credit is shared. I'm thrilled to have Adam aboard and to see the site continue to evolve. It's been a wild ride since DS opened 5 years ago. I'm probably as optimistic for change right now as I've ever been during that period, which is really helping fuel the posting during the stretch run here. And having Scott, Alan and now Adam to share the load with opens up all kinds of opportunities.
Evan, thank you for sharing that. It's amazing just how many people have or are linked to someone with ASD. What is cooler to me is seeing how successful those people are, and the great strides are being made, especially in the Philadelphia area to ensure that today's kids are getting diagnosed earlier and getting critical care at a young age, which can make them almost symptom free. It makes giving to a place like Drexel Autism Institute much more real and tangible, so it's awesome Athletics ran with the idea.

Good stuff, great to have Adam in the fold.
Pat Skerry was a leading force in college coaches promoting Autism awareness, so no surprise the home game vs Towson was chosen. As a parent of a child on the spectrum, very thankful for Skerry's promotion, athletics for rallying around the cause for a game, all the work that local institutions pour into better understanding the condition, including the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute and Kinney Center at SJU, and those who are willing to donate time, whether work or volunteer, and/or money to the various institutions.
Thanks for sharing your story Evan, glad to hear you are excelling.
