The Wichita State-Marshall game drew 1.218 M viewers on TNT on Friday afternoon. It was the 18th highest rated show on all of cable TV on Friday. That is pretty good for an early daytime game.

The Cincy vs. Georgia St. also an early afternoon game drew 597K viewers on TBS.

RE: AAC TV Ratings
If there is any consolation that we can take from this, it is that our TV ratings are damn good.

TV ratings and market size, IMO at least, are going to play a bigger role in future expansion and bigger and better TV deals than on field and on court performances.

That said, they also go hand in hand since we would have continued our high ratings if we still had teams in the tournament. However, we have proven time and again that we have earned more money. Up to Mike Aresco to go get it.

RE: AAC TV Ratings
It's amazing what happened in the City of Houston. 3 weeks ago, we were lucky if our home games were even mentioned on the local news. By the time we reached the round of 32, every major station sent sports reporters to Wichita to cover the games and field reporters were sent to watch party sights all over the city for live reporting.

In a large pro-sports market, winning is all that matters. We saw that with football.

RE: AAC TV Ratings
The Houston-Michigan game actually beat the other top games on CABLE-TV by a wide margin on Saturday. Basically 1 million more viewers than the next two closest games and 1.4 million more than the KU-Seton Hall game which preceded it on TBS:
1. HOUSTON VS MICHIGAN TBS NETWORK 3,805 M
2 TNT FLORIDA VS TEXAS TECH 2,845 M
3 LOYOLA-CHICAGO VS TENNESSEE 2,852 M
5 TBS SEATON HALL VS KANSAS 2,439 M

Anyone who continues to doubt the power and potential of this league can go suck donkey balls.

Mike Aresco shouldn't have much of a problem creating a promising $$$ pitch for tv networks.

RE: AAC TV Ratings
I didn't end up keeping track of TV ratings as the season went on, so the list is fairly short. I added pretty much all of the games that show up on Showbuzz Daily's weekly sports TV ratings posts, plus a few others I found. Hopefully some of you can fill in other games that I missed.

I'm guessing now that the TV deal has been (supposedly) signed, we won't be studying these figures day in and day out. Mostly due to the 12 year length of the deal. I must say, it HAS been exhausting. Interesting, but exhausting.

Still irritated at the length of that contract. The numbers were fine but the length was horrible.

And whomever was watching that game saw a gem. More pub for UCF.

I wonder why you can't make a Final Four with $40-$45M/year in the SEC. Good grief that's embarrassing.
