Where's Rag who told the world UC was only still #11 because the voters didn't factor in the Wichita State game and that they'd be down around 15 this week? Back in the top 10 boys. A 2-0 week secures a top 4 protected seed (probably at least a 3 seed at that point), with a shot at a 2 if they win the conference tournament.

We probably drop a couple spots... our ceiling becomes a 3 seed, maybe a 4 seed. and we risk not having a top 4 protected seed at all without making the conference tournament finals. Lets win that game.

We've spent a great deal of this season in the Top 10. That alone is reason enough to celebrate.

Really, really, really want that away game vs. Wichita.

Say we lose to Wichita on their court. We'd fall to a 2-seed in the conference tournament and would likely have to face Houston and Wichita State in the postseason. If we were to win those two games and take home the trophy, where does that leave us?

I think 3 seed. Possibly 4 seed. Honestly, the committee may lock us in place prior to the conference tournament final on Sunday.

Question: "If" and I mean "If", we knocked off the Shocks in Wichita, is that the biggest win in the Mick Cronin era? I am also making the assumption that we beat the Green Wave which is no guarantee wither.

It seems as if the committee weights conference tournament games less than regular season games. I don't have numbers to prove it, though.

I'd say Syracuse in the Big east tournament or Florida State in the NCAA tournament.

I don't think this is the case, but I do think they do a relatively good job of not overvaluing the conference tournaments. 3-5 days shouldn't outweigh an entire seasons worth of results So last year Duke won the ACC tournament, but UNC had an overall better resume and won the ACC regular season. The committee didn't ignore Duke's ACC tournament result or discount in, but just decided it wasn't enough to outweigh UNC's total body of work.

The committee tries (and I think does a relatively good job) to treat conference tournament games like they are 1 of 30 or so games we get to judge teams by over the course of the season. If UC gets to the conference tournament and wins by 5 or loses by 5 are they really that different a team?

Bubble teams that string some wins together have been able to move a lot in conference tournaments (See Syracuse in 2006) because they can get some big wins that really increase their resume. Teams towards the top of the bracket that already have really strong resumes don't get affected as much by conference tournaments.

For sure...people forget how good (and hot) that FSU team was. They beat Duke and UNC (both Top 5 teams) in back to back nights to win the ACC tournament. You know, looking back, we had some apocalypticly ****** losses that year. Presbyterian and St. Johns at home...yiiiiikes.

Side note, but that FSU-St. Bonaventure game in Nashville was friggin nuts...one of the better NCAA Tournament environments I've been in.

That UC team was excellent by the end of the season. Absolutely a top 10-15 team. Their numbers don't bare that out because they were a completely different team up until the Xavier game. When Mick decided to play 4 guards / wings and 1 big (Yancy once he came back) the team really came into its own. The run to the conference championship game was no fluke. Parker was kind of perfect for his role and everyone else really fit.

I thought the things Craft was able to get away with on defense really through that team off against OSU. We never were able to get into the offense and OSU took advantage.

Kentucky at least deserves to be ranked more than Creighton. How in the hell did they get on there...they've lost to every even remotely decent team they've faced this year and have a record propped up by a bad OOC. One win against Villanova is all they're propping themselves up with.

I hate UK as much as the rest of them, but they look like a top 25 team right now. Honestly, they are a very difficult match up for alot of teams, especially when they are shooting well.

That year was bizarre. We lost to Presbyterian and Marshall before getting blasted by Xavier. After the brawl the team turned things around. I think we ended up having the most top 25 wins in the country, including #2 Syracuse.

From ESPN Power Rankings; as noted throughout the year, this guy has little love for our 'Cats but I found these statistics he used concerning:

After allowing just three of their first 25 opponents to score one point per possession, the Bearcats have now given up at least one point per possession in three of their past four games -- including a season-high 122.7 per 100 possessions against Tulsa on Sunday.

Better competition or has the defense lost its mojo?
