You mean you don't like Wendy's? That's about all that's close to PNC Arena.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by close. Chances are you aren't staying at a hotel that's nearby, so the question is what kind of restaurants are near (or in) your hotel. Then, plan on driving to the stadium, because there aren't great public transportation opportunities other than park and ride shuttle buses. By the time you get to the parking area for the shuttle, you might as well just keep driving to the arena.

Then again, I don't recall Greensboro being much better, but maybe it has improved since I was there last. One thing Raleigh has going for it is that 20% of the fans will return to their homes after the games every day, so there won't be as much demand for what hotels and restaurants are within driving distance.

The NC State Fairgrounds are across the street from the PNC Arena. They're building a pedestrian underpass now. If the ACC Tournament comes to Raleigh, I guarantee that there will be plenty of food and drink options available very close by. If nothing else, I can assure you we really do food truck rodeos exceptionally well in this area but there are also fixed restaurant locations at the Fairgrounds as well as lots of room for all sorts of food and drink options.

Nothing more exciting than a $8 foot long corndog and a $7 elephant ear.

You might be surprised about how many would line up for an $8 foot long wiener in Brooklyn.

Tournament won't ever be played on the home court of a conference team again.

Aw man. This breaks my heart. Hokies lose to a team that played yesterday. It must suck when BC goes further than your team without a bye.

That's already the third time Syracuse has been called for a foul when they either didn't touch a UNC player or just went straight up.

Meanwhile Tyus Battle gets tackled and nothing gets called.

Sure, unless you are a Duke or Syracuse fan. Then it takes on a whole new meaning.

...and somehow the refs allowed UNC to blow through Syracuse hack-D to beat them by 20 on their "home turf". Good luck on making it back to the Garden. 04-wine

RE: ACC Tournament
I didnt think the game was so unfairly officiated. I saw fouls that were missed on both ends. I loved the fact that the refs just let them play without calling the game so tightly.
I have seen tightly called games before and the game seems to just drag on.

Roy Williams did exactly what any coach would have done against a depleted roster, just keep throwing bodies at them. I knew our guys were going to tire out quickly when I saw him substituting 2 or 3 players at a time after about 5 minutes. Our guys were tired before the first half was over. That could be why there were a disproportionate amount of fouls called on SU.

SU has 3 freshmen playing this season out of 7 scholarship players. If we lose only one player this season, along with what comes in, things will be a lot different for SU next season. The team should return to playing at a much hire level, as the team will have a full roster.

It's not just me who thinks the ACC Tournament ought to be in NC. FiveThirtyEight thinks it's ridiculous that it's in Brooklyn and that it ought to be in Raleigh.

BTW Reidsville, NC (the geographic center of the ACC) is 25 miles north of Greensboro.

FiveThirtyEight also suggests that the Big East Tournament be held in Columbus, Ohio, which might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard in regards to college basketball.

Historically, that makes no sense but the Big East isn't what it used to be. If the ACC should alter the location of its tournament because it's added new teams, the Big East should do the same.

When I comes to the ACC, though, the center of gravity is still in NC, anyway you want to look at it.

One difference could be that the outliers in the BE want to go to MSG while the outliers in the ACC don't want to go to Greensboro? It would also seem that the conference commissioners want their current setup. Don't you think that the wants/needs of programs like ND, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, FSU, etc carry more weight than programs like Xavier, Creighton, Butler, etc?

IMHO, the geographical center is absolutely IRRELEVANT for one simple reason: it assumes that all ACC schools value basketball equally. They don't. The center of the ACC is in North Carolina... but ONLY if you include FSU and Miami in the "average". Make no mistake: basketball is much bigger in New York and Boston than it is in Florida. By contrast, the "football center" of the ACC is further south - though Charlotte is not a bad approximation, TBH.

All of this completely ignores the REAL issue, which is "what's the best way for the ACC to grow fan bases and revenues?" So, is NYC the center of the ACC? Of course not, but that just doesn't matter - as long as it can sell out the tournament.

SELLOUT?
NEW YORK – A street peddler stood at the top of the escalators running up from the subway Tuesday morning. He was dressed in raggy clothes, and wore an old Mets hat.

And he had a fistful of ACC Tournament tickets.

“Ten dollars!” he barked as people took a wide berth from him on the brick concourse outside Barclays Center.

“Where are the seats?” someone finally asked him.

“Where do you want them to be?” the peddler answered.
