There are a couple of other very curious happenings since the passing of the patriot act. Total power of government to spy on its citizens is total power to destroy.

I would bet A LOT that it's not.

I would bet that there were plenty of violations during both the Bush and Obama administrations.

When these “warrants” are approved at a rate in excess of 99%, I think we can all be pretty sure there have been serious abuses along the way. This is the very definition of a rubber stamp.

Banana republic type stuff...

...or that they don't bother bringing forth cases for the court unless they have the goods.

Like against Carter Page? Yeah, right. The goods.

The most recent case vs. Page was renewed at least three times...all by GOP appointed judges if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure they're all in the tank for the Obama administration or against trump though, right?

Garbage in, garbage out.

There isn’t any defense counsel or anyone offering a refutation of whatever the Govt is presenting.

Don’t have to be “in the tank” if you’re being fed crap “evidence”.

I'm not sure why you keep trying to steer this towards a pub versus dim issue, it's not. It's about a law that, in the case of Carter Page, is being abused by the FBI to spy on an American citizen and via his contacts, a presidental candidate. That doesn't bother you? It should.

Perhaps not. Can I assume you were also fine with Obama ordering the murder of an American citizen who had never been charged with a crime or seen a day in a US court?

As American citizens we're supposed to have rights granted to us by the constitution and it doesn't matter if we're poor, rich, or the president, we're all supposed to be treated equally.

The operative word is “reviewed.” All a judge can do is review what is presented. And that will always be biased if it comes from only one side. That’s why I favor having an ad litem in FISA cases.

I find it interesting that we used to have a congressman who fought strongly against FISA abuses. Introduced bills to curb them. Fella out of California, named Schiff.
