Who will take over the negotiations for media contracts? I thought he was our lead guy according to Aresco. I guess our contract will double in size now, haha.

If Compher was the lead guy on the media contract then the AAC would have ended up paying ESPN.

The Greg Schiano debacle aside, he did great things at K-State from a revenue generation standpoint. Got to Tennessee at a weird time.

I also don't know who those other guys you mentioned are, so their hiring/firing could also be a thing.

It's official, Compher is resigning. Curiously though he is staying on until May 1. Despite him stepping down I wonder if this means he will atleast still be doing some leg work with the basketball coaching search. I'm sure that he won't have final say but it does sound like he may still play some part. I'm still not crazy about how this is being handled. I wish they would have gone the interim AD route.

Some details: Compher will stay in his role through May 1, which means he will earn a $140,000 longevity bonus that takes affect April 30, marking five years at the school.
Compher to get $1.2M buyout, will still earn longevity bonus

Make that anyone but an AAC team hire compher. No matter what just him getting a 200,000+ a year job helps. Even if you pay the whole thing it is a great deal. Plus he will obviously be strictly doing administrative things now and will be out of the way if you hire a new ad quickly. He is definitely not going to be involved in deciding anything important. It's all for appearence so he can have a sweeter deal.
