RE: March 2, 3, 4 and 5 baseball action
southern miss up 11-0 against nicholls state in the 4th....

we screwed the pooch yesterday losing 9-6 against OSU with a 6-2 lead after the 6th.....that would be when Sandlin's pitch count got to a point where he had to exit the game....

our bullpen is our only question mark this year.....

Rice wins 6-0 to take the series from HBU.

Unfortunately, our Sunday starter exited the game after 3 2/3 with an unknown injury.

Potentially a big issue because we lost our Saturday starter yesterday with a broken hand.

wow.....that sucks.....

how did he break his hand???

pitching is always akin to having a solid decision maker under center or a solid point guard......

those are season changing game changers.....

The good ‘ole dugout outburst...

Agreed on potential season impacts... You can withstand one starter going down, but two is tough.

Hopefully the guy we lost today won’t be out too long.

We actually have plenty of bodies to pitch, so it’s not a MSU-style issue where they were having outfielders pitch... More of a question of quality.

RE: March 2, 3, 4 and 5 baseball action
Non CUSA baseball related but saw today where Cal St Fullerton is/was playing at Tulane over the weekend. Fullerton had 7 players break curfew (aka Bourbon Street in all likelihood) and were suspended today which caused the Fullerton coach to use his top reliever to start in right field as well as having 3 pitchers playing defense before the end.

http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/201...n_bas.html

And the coach wanted to fully embarrass those who missed curfew by having them sit in the stands as well as run sprints before and after the game

http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/201...ded_p.html

As a result, Vanderhook suspended those seven players for the game and had them sit in the Turchin Stadium bleachers located near the foul pole in right field.

"I wanted them to be fully embarrassed," Vanderhook said.

The coach also had those players run sprints before and after the game on the turf field used for football workouts behind the third-base side stands.

The suspensions caused Vanderhook to put some players in unfamiliar positions.

Usual closer Brett Conine played in the field for the first time in his college career and went 1-for-4 with a single. He ended the game by playing at first base.

"He had a good day," Vanderhook said about Conine. "Then we had to make some moves because other guys who played were too scared to play a new position and didn't know what to do, so I guess they never watched baseball before."

Conine was one of three pitchers to end the game playing a position in the field, with usual relief pitcher Tommy Wilson in right field and usual starter Andrew Quezada at second base

USM beats Nicholls St 20-4 to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record while going 3-1 the whole week and 8-3 on the season.

After not scoring in the first inning today USM scored in every inning afterwards starting with 8 in the second, 2 in the third and 3 in the fourth to put the game away.

"Take it how you see it, but we don't like the way they talked to us on our field." 03-hissyfit 03-nutkick03-lmfao

"If we ever lose to someone like them again — we can't keep putting that on," Lipcius said. "We lost to ETSU and now them. This can't keep going if we want to be successful." 05-mafia 05-nono
