Thanks, I was trying to remember and got it wrong. Same games would bring 10k more fans played on a Saturday but national TV still has its advantages too I guess.

That said, it is a reasonable point to note that the MW currently is letting STADIUM broadcasts compete with their own digital network. So--perhaps they will go that route. Agree--MWTex is pretty up to date on the MW stuff. As for pay--my understanding is STADIUM pays nothing up front. I think there is supposedly some sort of revenue sharing on the back end once costs are covered.
I believe you're correct in regards to internet exclusives such as Facebook and Twitter, which used to be a service provided by Campus Insiders before the merge. I'm certain that our contract with American Sports Network carried over to the joint venture Stadium and we're compensated for all games broadcasted nationally on linear television where they can capitalize on TV advertising. So this could possibly be the limited compensation for Mountain West since their relationship with Stadium is completely digital.

True. There are definitely pros & cons to both sides. When you go to the extreme of MACtion, attendance has really suffered for some of those schools. You don't want to tip the scales too far in one direction; there is a balance.

It is pretty embarrassing to have friends ask you what your doing when you start wiring your laptop to the TV, and have to answer "oh getting ready to watch the marshall game".
I am envious of the sunbelt. We are officially the worst conference in the country in terms of exposure. No question.
You are really like the jealous ex boyfriend, trying to spin how you are better off, alone, when your ex just hooked up with a multi millionaire good looking business owner. "Yeah, but have fun paying those taxes!!!!........."
The problem with your point of view is you just compared - in this analogy - what the Sun Belt got to someone with a lot of net worth. That's laughable and a really bad analogy.
There is no doubt our current TV situation blows ass. But I have been impressed with Stadium and people with lack of vision probably don't appreciate that situation and what's happening with Facebook. Would I be correct in assuming you aren't much of a visionary? I'd bet a cold beer you spend your days focused on one thing and that is "Right now".
So, while I agree with you to an extent, I don't agree fully because there is a bigger picture here. My problem is I don't have any confidence in the current leadership to do this right, and I actually do believe this could be done right. Here's my view of what getting it right means...
1. No more than two tiers. No more of this 9 different places who might choose to show something and you need to be Sherlock to figure out where it is.
2. At least one game per week on ESPN (channels not +) on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. That would give us about 15 or 16 games there. Same for basketball. That would give us about 17 games on the network.
3. Everything else goes to Stadium. A majority of which actually goes to the TV channel (to include OTA and where they broadcast on cable and satellite channels as well). For everything else that doesn't go to the OTA and cable/satellite channel it is made available online via Facebook as well as Stadium's app across all platforms. I would actually like to see Stadium content be available on both Facebook and its other online platforms at the same time. There is no reason for these Facebook exclusive games.
This is easily achievable and while not a homerun would be immensely better than what we have now and -IMO - gives us a chance to be the first in sports to solely take advantage of both the future of how programming is going to be consumed in the future and aligned doing so with one of the largest subscriber bases in the world. That potential is worth pursuing.
If you are a self proclaimed "visionary" that thinks facebook or twitter are ever going to broadcast anything but teams ESPN and company, don't want, you see about as well as Stevie Wonder.
LMAO. Twitter and Facebook will be taking content from ESPN.
Twitter has already streamed live NFL and MLB games. Facebook has streamed live MLB games. Twitter, even as much as it has struggled has four times the number of daily active users than ESPN can claim as subscribers.
It's ok that you don't see it. Just sit back and watch. You'll figure it out soon enough.
You missed the part about what ESPN, and big networks DON'T WANT. I'm sure their grand business minds idea was "let's break into the sports streaming game, really get some attention by grabbing some cusa action. People will definitely want to watch UTSA and Rice go at it all over the country! Lol let me know when you see Alabama and Ohio State on twitter. I watched radford today, because i tuned into ESPN. Also watched Wichita and Cincy because it was on. I sure as hell, am not streaming or digging on some app or twitter to watch someone othee than Marshall, nor will anyone else. 3,000 people watched the marshall, middle game. Let that sink in. Its pathetic.
Your blind loyalty to the **** hand we have been dealt is commendable. Sad, wrong, sure, but commendable.
You are in the wrong place. Go type up some notes for your AD and demand a move so you can get your Tuesday night MACtion on.

Below is ticket sales for CUSA, MAC and SBC for the last 3 years listed. They include basketball-all tickets sold. Don't know if it says more about Tuesday to Friday night games or winning or losing. I guess it could be both but it's clear that overall CUSA brings in more money for tickets sold

Just curious where these numbers came from. I'm not doubting CUSA had the best ticket sales, by far. I'm curious about UAB's numbers. In 2015 they didn't have football (or 2016), but their sales almost doubled in 2015.

You’re mixing last year’s game @Troy with the 2016 Troy @ USA game. It was played on a Thursday night and drew 30,837.

ODU must have some expensive tickets. These numbers don't include donations rights? Just cost of tickets? Wonder how these are reported and if different schools report in different ways. Not arguing that CUSA didn't gain more money with tickets.
Anyway, still waiting on the details to this deal. I really don't see a downside other than having to pay $5 a month for content I was getting mostly with the cost of internet. I just hope we see near 500k/school and limit the home midweek games to one a year.

Like Western, ODU makes a lot off basketball tickets. In a good trend Western will take in 1 to 1.2 million on tickets sold. The number in 2016 for Western was around 800k.
ODU averages more than Western in basketball and they have sold out every fb game since moving up....put a premium price on tickets
But here is what I noticed on ticket prices ....school that don't fill their stadium and have a large number of seats....
they sell a ton of discounted tickets. Marshall is the exception to that, they sell family tickets but it only makes up a small portion of over all sales.
Ark St has always been one of the schools that values butts over dollars. Some schools have a larger student turnout...I assume App is one of those. For a school with low attendance numbers Western has very good student turnout...5 to 6k

I haven't read through this whole thread, but in my opinion, Belt and CUSA fans arguing over who has the best tv package, given the dollars for both packages, is like arguing whose crap smells better.

We ***** because that's what fans do but any fan in CUSA or SBC can see their team play every game or just about all without leaving their couch. Go back 4 years ago and that was impossible. You might have to pay for the right to watch but at least you have that choice.....
It cost me as much in gas to go to every Western home game than if I sit at home and paid for CUSATV
Support your school...don't just be a fan. There's a big difference in the two and a fan will complain about the $10 to watch a game. The supporter will see that as still a value and worth the cost.

Tough when you have 3 little ones (2 in school). Too far of a drive to Dallas, or I'd be there.

I understand everyone can't go to a tourney like this or even make all the home games and very little road games. Sports are expensive but as a fan we have it better today than anytime in our history as far as being able to see the games.
I remember the time I had to climb on top of the house and turn the antenna just to get a snowy picture. Or drive 25 miles to Ohio co and watch the game on a Wal Mart TV. Free is always better but most people waste the amount of money it cost to be able to watch our team play.

Well, bottom line is "Next up!". Thats would be CUSA. Very curious to see what the monetary value of the SB deal turns out to be (it always ends up leaking out) as well as how the next CUSA TV deal shakes out. Once that's announced---we then have the AAC, MW, and BYU all starting negotiations the next year (plus maybe CUSA as well if they opt for another short 2 year deal).
