Shouldn't we give them up?

So much backlash. Even within the United States.

Isn't that telling?

Reminds me of California.

Isn't "reciprocity" a type of legitimacy?

So if we can't live without China's trade practices
If he is planning on engaging in a trade war. Then it is gonna fail and it is bad.

If he is using the threat of a trade war to get competitors to the table to end their unfair trade practices then it is good.

Unfortunately he can't tell us which one he is doing or it would mess up the game...if there is a game.

So it really comes down to whether you trust him. Is it a business negotiation, or is it an idea that trade wars are good?

We'll find out sooner or later.

ya nailed it....

this is why it's going to be interesting how this plays out longer term.....

it was ugly when china started overbuilding and acquiring our debt.....

you can only absorb additional costs for so long in that sector.....

absolutely....he's setting a benchmark.....that's the one positive I see.....

however, I see it as a bit aggressive.....obviously, the market does too....

I've lived through that life.....

What's the danger? Fewer cars? More expensive beer?

How about trains? Doesn't Bourbon come in bottles?

I am suspecting he is doing this for national security reasons.

Since most of our aluminum and steel are imported if the US suddenly needed to build more ships and equipment and we are no longer getting supplies of aluminum and steel from foreign countries we would be in a bad place. This way we have US companies capable of supplying needed raw materials.

we'll see how this plays out.....

as I mentioned, it's early in the game....and the market reaction is usually a pretty good indicator what I deem important as 'potent potables'.....

Where are the raw materials to make steel found and how is it harvested?

Well, I heard we were harvesting steel seeds and storing them in the doomsday vault, in anticipation of this world wide cataclysmic event would happen to the freshly grown steel plants that used to pop up in blue states. Guess I was wrong about that.

I have to go re-examine my life now.

Thanks for bursting that bubble. Meany!

That was rather fascinating, thanks for posting.

Had no idea limestone and some of those processes were involved in steel mfg. And more than 1500 specific “blends” for different uses? Damn.
