NIT needs to go 64 and CBI/CIT banned. CBI/CIT games on tv is ridiculous.

You do realize the NCAA bought the NIT as the were being sued for Anti-Trust by the NIT? CBI/CIT would love to cash in if the NCAA were to do this. This why I crack up when people complain the CFP is anti-trust and want the NCAA to take over. It was the 1980's supreme court ruling against the NCAA for violating Anti-Trust. NIT was just too late to realize they should have done this first.

I don't want to live in a world where the NIT controls postseason college basketball. It used to be highly improbable for non-majors to get in the NIT as recently as 15 years ago. No merit, just grab who'll sell the most tickets and have the best TV ratings. Countless good mid-major and minor conference seasons down the drain and completely unrewarded because they had a bad night or lost to a team having a good night in the conference tournament.

Now teams get rewarded with an auto-bid to the NIT if need be. Let's not let the Invitational do it as has been done to college football with its private chamber of commerce exhibitions.

Arlington sends Louisiana to the NIT. Arlington’s roster better suited to pick off a 4/5 seed anyway - don’t think the Cajuns had much of a shot.

Vermont and "Louisiana" going down.

Hampton might join them.

Two CIT adds: St. Francis (Pa.) and North Carolina A&T, which will be playing at Liberty.

Hampton falls so that makes nine to 10 regular-season champions consigned to the NIT (depending on whether Middle Tennessee can survive the bubble).

Yeah, MTSU has a solid chance to make the NCAAs. Same with Nevada.

Nevada is a lock, but MTSU is squarely on the bubble. I have a feeling they may be out.

MTSU is much closer to being out than they are to being in. Even if they had won just one conference tournament game, they'd be in much better shape, if not precarious.

NIT:
Rider (MAAC)
UNC-Asheville (Big South)
Northern Kentucky (Horizon)
FGCU (ASun)
Wagner (NEC)
UC Davis (Big West)
Vermont (AEC)
UL-Lafayette (Sun Belt)
Hampton (MEAC)

32 - 9 - last 4 = 19 spots available If MTSU is left out and not in last four out, it could go to 18 spots. I think some times who thought at worse NIT and refuse CIT/CBI may be staying home.

UAPB is ineligible

John Templeton (nybuckets) reports — I have received an official response from the NCAA. Because Grambling was the regular season champion of the SWAC, Arkansas Pine Bluff will not receive an automatic bid to the NIT.

SELA's about to join the NIT crowd.

Edit: done deal. Southland adds it regular season champ to the NIT field.

Only 20 NIT spots available once you remove automatic qualifiers. You pretty much have to be a top 75 team to make the NIT nowadays.

It's poetic justice anyways, they weren't the best of the rest, they just won the tiebreaker over Prairie View and TSU but had the same conference record. We only need 1 SWAC team in the postseason as it is, so all's well that ends well.

Northeastern is the last team in and their RPI is 53. Don’t underestimate how hard it is to make the NIT these days.
