Tonight at Matthews Arena #5 NU hosted #4 BC.

And NU pulled out a thrilling 5-4 OT win to remain unbeaten in their last 12 games.

NU tied the game at 4 when they pulled the goalie and scored. Then they carried the play in OT to get the game winner.

What a freshman class! The announcer mentioned that we already have the highest scoring freshman class in the nation and then last night four of the five goals are scored by freshmen!

NU got goals from 6 different players as the #3 ranked women's hockey team clinched a share of the Hockey East regular season crown and the No. 1 overall seed in the league playoffs after beating Merrimack 6-3 Friday at Matthews Arena.

The Huskies (21-3-4, 19-2-2 WHEA) needs one more point (or a BC loss/tie) to clinch the outright regular season title for the second time in program history and first since 2012.

Congrats to women's hockey!! 2nd straight Hockey East Tournament championship!

Great win in overtime after BC tied it up late. 3-2 final. They are ranked #3 in the polls and will be the #3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Great job ladies! Senior Kasidy Anderson got the game winner with her 21st goal of the year.

So Friday afternoon it the Women’s game followed by the Men’s team hosting Maine in Game 1 of the Best-of-3 Quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament.

What a day it will be!

RE: Women’s hockey
#3 NU’s dream season comes to an heartbreaking end losing 3-2 in overtime to Cornell in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament at Matthews Arena.

NU trailed 2-0 before rallying to tie the game at 2 in the 3rd period.

Cornell ended the game on a breakaway goal in OT to advance to the Women’s Frozen Four. So NU wins the HE title on a breakaway goal and lose in the same way a week later.

NU Freshman sensation Alina Mueller (21 goals, 30 assists) missed the game with a broken wrist suffered in the HE Championship game.

NU finished the season 27-4 with 3 ties.

Game winning goal actually made ESPN SportsCenters’ Top 10. Ouch!
