Wow how can a P5 postseason event not even have a school produced stream at minimum? No women's tennis video or audio broadcast? Just live stats?

If you go to the live stats page there is a link to video of each match.

Not completely sure how tennis points work, but Duke won 4-0 and our lady tennis dukes season comes to an end.

Nice season ladies. No shame in losing to Duke. They seem to excel at rich peoples sports. They're probably good in polo and yachting too.

+1
Winning a conference title is a big deal - especially first time in program history. The team is actually quite young and returns quite a bit for the coming years. Good experience to taste the NCAAT and what it's all about. Hopefully, that will raise the bar for these youngsters in what they need to do to compete with the Duke's of the world in the future. Also, should help our recruiting. Like a lot of sports in the CAA, WTEN is a 1-bid league depending on winning the CAAT. What comes along with that is the opportunity to ramp up the non-conference schedule when appropriate to challenge the team and hopefully prepare for the CAA schedule and CAAT. Would love to see WTEN do exactly that. (i.e., play Duke or the like again next year in the regular season...we really have nothing to lose)

RE: 2019 Spring Sports Roundup
I am guessing there was a weather issue as several matches ended (that or a LOT of injuries on the court).
What was particularly good to take away from this looking at the scores, the second sets were often tighter or JMU split the second set. I think there was some intimidation early on, but then the ladies settled into the match, only to have many inexplicably not complete their matches.
Overall, a great experience to build on and I think JMU Women's tennis has the opportunity and potential to turn into another women's sport that we dominate over time like lacrosse, field hockey, softball, women's bball, etc.

In college tennis, the moment the 4th (winning) team point is scored, all other matches stop and don't finish because the team match is over at that point.

I guess we can call it the "ODU Rule". No chance of coming back so the game is stopped.
BTW, for those who don't keep up with college tennis. 3 doubles matches are played, 1 set each. 1 pt. is awarded the team who wins 2 matches. Once the outcome is certain, the remaining matches stop midmatch. 6 singles matches of best of 3 sets. So the team which gets to 4 wins.
Another interesting sidenote. NCAA mens tennis plays "let" serves. Since so much cheating was going on(a player would get aced and would call a "let"), NCAA instituted this type of rule. The women apparently don't cheat so they play the regular rules.

Haha! Reminds me of an expression from my youth tennis days:
" When in doubt, call it out"

RE: 2019 Spring Sports Roundup
This past weekend, senior Jantsen Wilson won the CAA women's triple jump with a 3 foot personal best jump of 42' 6" which also qualified her for the NCAA Southeast Regional in Jacksonville, FL at the end of May. Her jump was the 2nd best jump in JMU history only behind former Olympian and former US Women's Triple Jump National Record Holder, Tiombe Hurd. Jantsen is a JMU legacy student athlete of my friend Leyuani Wilson (Saunders) who was a cheerleader and ran track at JMU in the early 1980's.

Her dad played basketball at VCU as well. Unfortunately, mom and sis could not convince younger sis to come to JMU. I think we have discussed Britton in the past, a superb athlete. I think she committed to Tenn. When I saw her and dad at the gym, I always pointed to the letters on my purple shirt.

Ya, Vince was starting guard at VCU. Britton had her final 5 down to Tennessee, Florida, Miami, Georgia and South Carolina and chose the Vols. That's where my former athlete Felicia Brown went and flourished. Britton is one of the fastest in the US in indoor 300m, 400m (Sophomore class US record holder) 500m (#2 all time in US), outdoor 400m, 400h. Very versatile. Would have been nice to have her as a Duke! We may see her in the Olympic Trials next year.
