There are 2 schools of thought on that...you are either in the foul camp or the don't foul camp(defend the 3 only). No matter what camp you are in it is passionate.

Hindsight is always 20/20......the first time you foul up 3 with 8 seconds left and the other team makes both, you get fouled and don't hit both and lose it will be why did we not just defend the 3.

I know at least 2 of those 3's that got into OT were a prayer heave and defended very well.

After the Richmond event last night, I am changing mine down to a 1.5. He needs to express some optimism and enthusiasm like Bogey in the recruiting thread today.

Hopefully he is okay, he did say he was at the Doctor’s office giving blood earlier in the day.
Or the rain has him slightly subdued.
Or we have some 20 plus years running and never ending men’s basketball Schleprock news coming soon.

His appearance @ the podium last night was uninspired @ best. Hopefully it was just a medical excuse that rendered him ineffective, otherwise we're in for another long and
disappointing men's hoop season.

No basketball representatives at the Va Beach tour stop tonight. No Q & A either, just a “we believe basketball is on the uptick” brief mention. Ugh. Hard to raise money for a new arena when you aren’t winning.

The slightly veiled strategy seems to be...
Hey, please donate to our $88 million basketball arena because our FCS football team is doing great.02-13-banana

I am certainly in for the good of the cause, but there isn’t enough critical mass willing to throw sufficient Money at a a mismanaged program.

When the new basketball arena opens and there are 6 suites as opposed to 8 and single ply toilet paper instead of double ply I expect that we will point to lackluster fund raising and Lou Rowe as the reason for the lack of amenities.

Rowe’s lack of vocal enthusiasm at a freaking tennis club shmooze-fest event. Yes, this should guide our thoughts on his team’s chances.

The Spring recruiting period just ended Wednesday, correct? I'm sure he's logged a lot of hours on the road recently and needs a vacation.

I have had plenty of conversations with Lou and he has been positive and upbeat, but also practical and realistic. Sounds like he was having an off day. While I would prefer an enthusiastic promoter of the program, Lou will ultimately be judged on the on court performance.

Cup is normally half full Hyper, just hasn't been too much to be inspired about in regards to men's hoops the last 20 years or so. Sure, I'm spoiled & jaded to have been around during the Campanelli era. Enjoy the weekend

RE: Louis Rowe performance appraisal
Bogey spoke of the work that Darius Banks has been putting in this off season on his 3 shooting. Assistant Coach Tim Johnson posted this short video of an off season workout with HCLR today.

https://twitter.com/CoachTJohnson/status...9670225920

My guess if we go back to the box scores Banks' shooting improved as the season went on. If he has a Charles Cooke like trajectory on his 3 pt shooting (Cooke's happened albeit away from JMU at Dayton) will be a match up nightmare and stat sheet stuffer. Lewis and Banks will help JMU explore the NCAAs by playing off of one another. #PLAYERRETENTION #PLAYERDEVELOPMENT

Banks improved as his ankle healed. If he is 100% at the start of the season I am optimistic the team can get off to a fast start.

Lewis and Banks will be the best scoring duo in the CAA, if not next year, then as juniors.

I’m pretty psyched about those two plus Mosley next year. Especially with Walfish speculating that the freshman will be good enough to take over the point - I find that hard to believe in light of how well Lewis played there as a frosh, but any easing of his load running the team will allow him to focus on other aspects of his game.

Walfish is beyond clueless if he thinks Matt Lewis will not be the starting point guard next year. Matt is currently hands down the best player on the JMU roster and the fact that he got to play point guard this year is the big reason why he did not transfer. He has really embraced the distributor role in pickup games while still scoring when he wants to. If Matt Lewis is healthy next year put his starting at the point right next to death and taxes as an absolutely certainty.

RE: Louis Rowe performance appraisal
Might as well get this thread started back up since the season is over. There was a lot of good discussion on here one year ago. Now that you have seen another year, what would you give Louis Rowe for his performance appraisal? Bourne will meet with him next week like he does with all coaches when their season is over.

Last year I think I was the only one that scored him a 1. The consensus opinion was a 2.

I give him a 1 again this year for the following reasons based on Bourne’s stated expectations...
1- 12-19(6-12 CAA) record against a weak schedule. 3rd straight Keener round invite. Fail
2- no postseason success as per Bourne’s quarterfinal wins and NCAA bid criteria. Fail
3- butts in seats is at an all-time low. Paid attendance is 19% lower than 3 years ago. Fail

Bourne needs to right his wrong and fix his terrible miscalculated decision to hire Rowe.
For 3 long years it hasn’t worked and JMU Nation has voiced their opinion by no longer attending games or even caring for that matter.
I can’t see an athletic department leader just shrugging his shoulders and saying oh well, I made things worse instead of better and there will be no accountability, no consequences. The $88 million arena rising out of the ground creates ultimate urgency to take action.
