UNCW/NU - CAA tournament
Talley is going to be beat, which may not be a bad thing. He carried us tonight because he had to with all the foul trouble. He'll need to rest up a bit, just in case we get to the finals.

I'd like to see him push Taylor and Fornes to take their shots and get Cacok going in the paint. We've gotten in severe foul trouble both times we've played them, but managed to get to OT and then ran out of gas.

I think he'll know what to do. This team just seems destined to win now. Taylor put up 27 points against NU last time we played, and I really expect him to turn it out tomorrow night.

This time we get them with our home court advantage, and we don't need OT. Cacok and Taylor lead the way, giving Talley the break he needs as we slow things down a bit. Their only CAA losses have been in games where they scored 70 or under. Pound the post and drive and we win. Get into a shootout and we lose.

UNCW - 73
The Last Yankee Standing - 69

RE: UNCW/NU - CAA tournament
It's very hard to buck history. Not since 1993 (# 7 ECU) has a CAA champion failed to be a 1-4 seed. Obviously, we have to beat two excellent teams in a row to do it. And we may have to do it with guards other than Talley stepping their games up, AND our big men staying out of foul trouble.

But if any team CAN do it, its this Seahawk squad. Offense will be a lot harder to come by against Northeastern, who are well coached, and know how to get us out of our rhythm. But if Ty Taylor can, for a 3rd time, give the Huskies nightmares....why can't we get the job done and avoid a 3-game sweep from NU?

RE: UNCW/NU - CAA tournament
The only 3 times a team outside the Top 4 MADE the title game, since 1993:

* 1997 - # 6 JMU (lost to # 1 ODU)
* 2007 - # 6 George Mason (lost to # 1 VCU)
* 2008 - # 5 W&M (lost to # 3 George Mason)

Granted, the way the tournament has changed improves the odds of a team outside of the top 4 making the title game. With the top 6 getting byes rather than just the top 4, it's easier than ever for a team like us to pull off a run.

But still, the odds are firmly against us....... Just the way we like it.

Just watched the shoot around video UNCW Sports posted on Youtube from earlier today. The vibes around the team seemed great. They made C.B. run suicides for his tech!!! A lot of smiling faces out there, along with the confidence from last nights win seem like a good mix. WINGS UP

Refs have let the game flow for semi #1. I hope they do the same for us

RE: UNCW/NU - CAA tournament
I hope that is Talley's only stupid pass. We look less in control tonight already. Let's not get too excited here guys, play under control and Talley has to lead the way with steady play.

We're trying too hard to push the ball to Cacok tonight and they are doing everything they can to deny.
