Or they lose on a missed FT because the crowd erupted on the other side due to a thunder dunk at the same time as the FT.

You're probably getting a little far out now. How much noise can 50 people make?

I think every conference in America has a better set up than this. This is bush league to the millionth degree.

I agree with what someone said earlier in the thread. I think 3 point shooting is going to come at a premium with this set up. Teams that rely heavily on shooting jump shots will struggle.

Anyone know how much CUSA is making off this deal? ie; the bid from Frisco/The Star. I hope it's substantially given this ridiculous setup.

I wish they had put more seating behind the baskets with a gradual incline. That would had made it seem more full.

That's true, but then again, a gust of wind or somone taking their keys out of their pocket could be a problem.

The A10 doesn't do that. The women in Richmond. The men get Washington, DC where the Wizards and Caps play. And on different weekends.

Our league's leadership is just so absolutely clueless.

Leadership doesn't appear to be committed to anything honestly. Football makes a little sense, but that's about it. I am all for an airport meeting, Harry referred to backroom discussions a few weeks ago in the Pilot.

As far as basketball goes, I don't understand why, after the first round or so, the higher seed can't host for that game, would make TV appearance a lot better and actually make revenue for someone. The Big South did it this way, looked pretty successful to me. They held the first round in Asheville, the after that the higher seed hosted the following game. Championship game in Radford was over capacity as a result.......... Imagine a champ game at MT, WKU, MU, USM, ODU etc, that would look awesome on TV......

This isn't the CUSA Marshall joined, or USM many moons ago. It may be time to do something else. Our bowls aren't getting better, worse if you really think on it, we went form a 2-3 bid league to 1 bid. It's just lost too much. So if we have to accept crap tv deals, crap bowls, crap leadership, getting punked for bids in the NCAA, might as well do it in a new conference.

Have only the top 8 play. First round at higher seed. Semi and Finals at neutral location Fri & Sat. If it's separate from the ladies we'll have lots of options.

The Southern Conference did this back in the late 70's and it worked out really well. Ensured good crowds for the 1st round games and since it was a day shorter the tournament was better attended.

I feel for you guys. No fan deserves something as ridiculous as this.

Alternate ideas:
  • Home-site tournament
  • Top four teams play a round-robin at a neutral site. Normal CUSA tiebreakers apply.
  • Add two teams, divide into eight-team divisions. Run division tournaments at appropriate venues (Dallas and Charlotte, say). Winners meet in a home-and-home. Point diff and away scoring are the tiebreakers.
  • Tournaments at made-for-TV studios. No audience but the product should look great on BeIn's secondary channel or Stadium for Friendster.
  • VR
  • Skype
  • Guess The Number
  • Cheese Roll

Why not hold it at the site of the Great Alaska Shootout?

Heck, have it at Atlantis. At least people that have money to piss away that are looking to get out of the winter doldrums might attend.

Because they need two arenas, so you'd have the ballroom and the lobby or something.
