Should Memphis Leave the AAC?
Given that Memphis' men's basketball best finish in history (5th place) was equaled this year & many are still demonstratively dissatisfied with the results, should Memphis consider leaving the AAC? Can Memphis, given it's AAC history with supposed high level recruits, ever realistically expect to win the AAC conference title?

It depends on who is also leaving...
and the destination.

I would say that Atlanta has lost his marbles, but he has never had any. For starters, we tied for 3rd in 2014. Second, we were 12-6 versus 10-8, Third, we finished 3 games out of 1st place, not 6 games out. Finally, in 2014 we beat the conference winner Loserville twice. This year we lost to Cincinnati by a combined 48 points.
He needs help.

RE: Should Memphis Leave the AAC?
I have a similar question: should the University of Memphis consider moving to another city? I just seems like we can’t get the kind of enrollment numbers needed to become a major tier 1 university in Memphis, maybe if we moved it to New York or LA, we could generate enrollment numbers to compete with the UCFs and ASUs of the world.
Serious replies only, please.

Novel idea...maybe the coach should start both recruiting and coaching better.

Yeah. AAC was a 4 bid league with SMU getting snubbed and being NIT runner up. Five teams ranked in the final AP poll.

RE: Should Memphis Leave the AAC?
Interesting question, but I say let's add another city to Memphis. Increasing our market size in this great country and becoming a greater threat to New York, Paris, London, etc.
There are a lot of great candidates out there, that, on their own, are thought of as little left-over cities, but each has its own culture, history and strengths, that when added to Memphis will make us great again!. Texarkana is a great example. Texarkana would add about 50,000 to our population. They have a real identity crisis there not knowing if they are in Texas or Arkansas. We could settle them in the West Memphis/Marion area which would really be a boon over there. Plus, they aren't too far away and would assimilate easily I think.
Or we could go big, like, Akron Ohio. Lost in the shadow of Cleveland, they would add 200,000 and would give us a real north/south/midwest feel. They would bring a few very cool and historic buildings to our downtown, making the skyline quite impressive. They would bring "Polymer Valley" and the title, city of Invention, plus add the University of Akron to the University of Memphis and we're talking world class.
Anyway, I think moving Memphis would work too, could we please move to the Caribbean? We would add a lot to a place like Haiti.

Yes. I think Memphis should leave the AAC and join the Big 12.
