Maybe Trump finally scared him enough to see that his path was no good.
Would explain his launching missiles every time Trump dares him to.
Exactly, this has far more to do with South Korea being more amiable along with NK finally having actual nuclear weapons capabilities than it does with the orange buffoon.
Or...He is an isolated dumb*** that has no clue how close his country is to being destroyed and his friends to the North sent someone his way to fill him in on his peril in regards to fcking with the US and disturbing their mutual interests? Just a thought.

LOL. S Korea has been "amiable" for years. This has to do with two things. Trump has made it more and more difficult for N Korea. Two, the NK missile program is far enough advanced that it can give NK the leverage they think they need in any "negotiation".
Now, here is the reality. It doesnt matter. An agreement is only as good as it signees. Im EXTREMELY skeptical that this is anything other than a way to buy more time for the missile program to further develop. I simply dont believe Kims serious about nuclear disarmament and the nations track record would indicate that Im likely to be dead on correct. I suspect Trump knows this as well.

lol, like NK wasn't going to do that anyway. Par for the course with them, no matter who was POTUS at the time.

Yeah....so? Show me some correlation. Else, you're just making a wild assumption with no basis in any fact. The changed nothing with their development and their testing. And you pretty much admitted (as is my belief) that their desires now are mainly due to the fact that they are finally in a legitimate state of strength like they've never been before.

OK, so WTF did you mean? As far as what Trump has done, I would very sincerely hope that it is done back channel and there would be no way for me to have any clue unless I had my TS and access back, and even then I probably would not have need to know.
What I know is that we've seen more movement from them in the year plus that Trump has been in the white house, than we saw in who knows how many years before.

That's always the caveat. In politics with dictators it's often absent. We'll see but I certainly won't hold my breath.

Yea that's pretty much it. We've been occasionally appeasing NK for decades now just to get him to temporarily stop his provocations.

Yeah...and that proves nothing. And the history of the world's relationship with NK should tell you that taking any assumption as fact here is not wise. But hey...believe what you want. When I see or hear of anyone from the trump administration actually doing some credible diplomatic work here, then I'll give them credit.

Because there's really no alternative. Nobody has the stomach for a ground war in Asia and we certainly can't launch a nuclear war either. At least rational folk feel this way. There's always a total idiot like John Bolton lurking about.

Frankly, I have no idea if being tough on NK will work. I only know that almost 3 decades of appeasement has failed to work. The strategy with NK has changed in the last year. So, we get tough and suddenly NK is saying they want to negotiate. Sounds like cause and affect to me.
That said---negotiations are worthless if they agreement is no better and no more enforced than previous deals. I believe there will be no real progress until NK takes a military set back. I hope it works out otherwise, but I see zero reason for optimism on that front.

That's always the caveat. In politics with dictators it's often absent. We'll see but I certainly won't hold my breath.
History has proven NK pulls this nonsense every time it wants/needs something. It plays on the world's desire for peace but once it gets what it wants it's back to business as usual. I see no reason why this time will be any different.
Yea that's pretty much it. We've been occasionally appeasing NK for decades now just to get him to temporarily stop his provocations.
Because there's really no alternative. Nobody has the stomach for a ground war in Asia and we certainly can't launch a nuclear war either. At least rational folk feel this way. There's always a total idiot like John Bolton lurking about.
Exactly. What does KJI want? He wants to continue to rule NK. The moment he invades the south or launches a nuke at the US mainland, his rule is over. That said, there is zero reason for NK to stop pushing until the US actually pushes back.

I wouldn't either. But maybe he wants shiny new toys and he can't get them while making nukes.

Trying to wait out Trump so he can get another Obama?
Maybe.
But then again, maybe Trump has gotten China to turn up the screws and its beginning to hurt.
