They just beat us by 30 five days ago and you think they’ll beat us because the shooting background. You don’t pay much attention to conference games, no?

Maybe you guys tanked for the 3 seed on purpose

No body is making a good percentage yet

William Lee was 4-8 from three tonight.

No team shot better than 33% yesterday, only to teams broke above 30%. While Lee hit 4-8, the rest of the team was 2-11

RE: CUSA basketball tournament action
I thought it would be interesting to take a look to see if our presumptions that this place would be difficult to shoot in held up on the first day. And it did.

On average, the eight teams that played day one shot 6.7 percentage points lower than their seasons average from three point range and not one of the eight teams matched or exceeded their yearly averages in three point shooting. The best was UAB, which was only 3.1 points off their average. I didn't run all the numbers out on free throws, because everyone appeared to have a decent night shooting them.

Will be interesting to watch this - particularly if teams that played yesterday have much better shooting numbers vs the four top seeds that have yet to play in the facility.

*Edit: Added a point of clarification. I looked at 3-point percentages only not overall shooting.

My biggest fear is the narrative of facing teams that got a warm-up game in and have the sightlines down. ODU's best performance in the cusa tournament came when we played every day instead of having a night off.

That was also the year where the conference was at its weakest and the champion earned a 15 seed. Anybody could have won it that year. This year, there is a clear and large seperation between the top 4 and the rest. While it is certainly possible, there will be an upset tonight, the likelihood of someone that played last night pulling off 3 upsets in a row are extremely low compared to the '15-'16 season. LT (202 RPI 2-12 vs the top 200 with its best win vs #150), for example, would have to beat ODU (75), WKU (53), and MTSU (29) in 3 consecutive nights. Much different that pulling one off in a given night.

In 2015-2016 CUSA RPI going into the conference tournament was:

1st UAB 81
2nd MTSU 95
3rd LT 129
4th Marshall 130
5th ODU 116

So after a first round game against a 300 RPI team, we played 3 games against teams that were statistically at around the same level as us.

This year it is:

1st MTSU 29
2nd ODU 75
3rd WKU 53
4th Marshall 101
5th UTSA 190

Not that I think we will win, but we played Middle pretty tough a few weeks back. Middle will probably win comfortably, but perhaps not in a cake walk.

I wish the WKU/UAB game wasn't at 10pm eastern time. I guess I'll have to wait until I wake up Friday morning to know WKU's fate.

Hell, I'm gonna watch the WKU game (if MT wins tonight) and I have to get up at 5am or so. I'm far from retired, & a LOT younger than 'Beed. (-;

Really? I live in Eastern Time ZOne and will stay up to watch game and get the kids ready for school at 530 am, what's your excuse? Your posts in the past indicate you are a younger guy too, no excuses....Its not like its going to be a late game every night, just one game.... I remember one season in Sun Belt tournament, we played every night at 10 PM EST all 4 games pretty much....

Damnit, fine, everyone. I'll start the game. I'm 32...will be 33 next month. No kids yet but I do have a pregnant wife. The good news I've been working hard today between browsing message boards and have my incoming mail down to 4. I do like that if WKU wins tomorrows game will be at 4pm. I usually get home from work around 4:15. I work 7am to 3:45pm everyday.

Yep, we were in no rush. My sister is only 3 years older but has a 9 and 6 year old. During that time my wife have been have to travel to fun places like Iceland and Montreal. My wife worked hard to get her masters and I've worked hard to get promotions. We're now in a good place with a nice little house. I think waiting on having kids is one the trends us Millenials have....along with killing Applebees with our love of avocado toast. 03-lmfao
