If applied as punishment for being a bad actor in the marketplace?...Im fine with them. Not so much otherwise.
I still like the idea I heard recently. Simply make all importers adhere to US environmental and worker safety regulations. That would create lots of problems for importers without having to use tariffs and help level the playing field. Look at what California has done in regard to its CARB standards. California basically created a world wide standard due to its giant market. We could do the same thing on a national level.
+3
We would thrive in that arena.
OK, so how do you do that consistent with international law and the fundamental principles of national sovereignty?

lol yes the hypocrisy is laughable. At first it was "Trump is hiring all rich white males, etcc" Now it's "Oh look, another one is leaving, this is bad bad bad." The hypocrisy is comical.

Good grief. The president's chief economic advisor gets ignored on a fundamental, foundational economic issue. It's pretty clear he's wasting his time. I don't blame him at all.

I fail to see the true concern, even if I am wary of tariffs.
The Secretary worked at the pleasure of the President and the President does not believe that this is a fundamental, foundational economic issue. Advice provided, advice dismissed.

Dude got to sell all of his Goldman Sachs stock tax free. I don't think he wasted much time at all.

Not really, it means that the Conservatives can think for themselves and not follow the party line as every Oblunder appointee did...even at the expense of illegalities. But, as a Demon that's par for the course, party over country.
If Cohn felt he couldn't follow the presidents lead on this issue more power to him. But, at least what he did during the time he was there the American public can thank him. Actually, I'm sorry he's leaving but like I said he can think for himself.

Neither is your logic as you make absolutely no sense here. Not only did trump bring most all these people in, Cohn himself is a Goldman Sachs stooge...the very definition of swampy.

Are we talking past each other? UCGrad thinks Cohn retaliated because he didn't get his way. I think it's pretty reasonable for an advisor who's advice is ignored to consider finding another employer.

The person who wants to "drain the swamp" shouldn't bring the swamp in with him.
