Tulsa side of the AAC tourny bracket
The battle of Orlando is nearly here. So a quick run down of possible TU opponents on our side of the bracket.
USF the least threatening but sneakiest of our possible match ups. They've been improving play and if we get them will be on a three game win streak.
Memphis our most likely opponent, Tubby had them playing well and they even took out Houston. Without Martin though they are far more vulnerable to scoring droughts in games. With the rumours and everything else hard to tell how they will come out and they did lose to usf recently so they may get taken out first game.
SMU, this match up in the semi's without Milton makes my mouth water, short bench, third game in three days, mostly jump shooters. Yes please especially as well as our done has been playing.
UConn, no sir, not a fan, don't like it. Two guards who can be a hand full have great range and score in bunches? Not a recipe for an easy games as our previous match ups have shown. Still like SMU it would be their third game in three days with a shortened bench.
Cincinnati, our toughest match up in conference I think. Big physical and we don't match up well. Still Cincy has had offensive problems on occasion and we have some shooters who can fill it up. Taplin will help we missed him in our earlier game. We'll need to play like that first match up again or the first 10 mins of the Temple game. We play like we did around the half vs Temple and it will get ugly.
I think chalk holds serve on our side, although a Cincy UConn gives me a little hope of a slightly easier semi match up.
Hopefully we can get a run going for an auto bid.

Time for Tulsa to get over the hump against UC. But first Memphis.

Whoever we draw for our first game we should beat by 10+. Idk if we will, but that's my expectation.
I would be surprised if Cincy didn't make it through their first game. If we go into that game dialed in, hitting shots, and playing good defense, then an upset isn't out of the question.
If play well enough to beat Cincy our chances of winning the whole tourney drastically increase. At that point we'd be on a roll, playing well, and would have a ton of confidence. A team like that is tough for anyone to beat.

The way SMU is playing in their first game. If UC comes in to that game over confident SMU could easily take them out. No trouble.
Edit- If SMU is that beat up then UC will probably beat them.

Don't tease me like this. . .
I would really like our chances vs a short bench SMU in game 3, day three. Maybe a Cincy SMU overtime just to put a cherry on that.

Yeah triple over time for the UC game vs SMU. First SMU needs to get past UCONN. UCONN looking better in their second half vs SMU. This is a dream doubt it really happens.

SMU win, player rolled an ankle, those are always worse the next day. So fewer players vs Cincy.
And that's just greedy eye. . . Double overtime will be fine.

Alright we need Memphis to win this one so we can avoid that USF RPI drop.

Neither Memphis nor USF look like they want the game that bad.

Well you got your wish. Tulsa is going to have its hands full with Memphis on Friday. Memphis looked good against USF.

Etou could be the determining factor against Memphis. If he shows up Tulsa definitely beats Memphis. If he doesn't Tulsa still beats Memphis but has to eek out the win. In other words a close one till the end.

Yes. Things are looking good, a Memphis win probably gets us in the NIT. Not sure a USF win would.
Should be a tough good game. Other than the previous USF game he has had them playing well. Need to come out and take care of business. Win and advance. Hopefully Cincy and SMU go overtime or two.

I think you guys will be safely in the NIT if you beat Memphis. You'd have a 66 rpi if you beat them and lose to UC. If you would happen to beat UC and lose to WSU, you'd have a 56 rpi. At that point you all will be saying if only you could have beat Lamar lol.

They should be saying that now. Beat Lamar, win 1 of 2 against Illinois St and a win today probably gets them in.
