This will fail. And I will remind all of you when it does.

I've never seen someone be so condescending in a PREDICTION. You must be a treat in real life.

You also have to ask yourself who the source of Parrish's info might be. Who would know that Penny talked to Larry Brown about a staff position, and leak it to the press? Would it be someone on Normal St, who would then have to manage the shitshow that was sure to follow, or someone who wished to place pressure on the admin to hire someone in particular?
I'd say someone in pennys camp. Maybe keelon? Just guessing

Is that where TT is now???? Look where MN is when he left. Same thing will happen here.

I think you're right. Hardaway isn't my first, second, third or tenth choice. BUT if he's the coach then I'll support him and hope for his success.

It does seem like this will either work and work big, like getting deep into the NCAA big, or it will be a huge cluster****.

I played a lot of ball with Penny back in the day. Went to the same high school and played varsity ball with Leon Mitchell. Many, many games with Penny, Leon, Nick, Vaughn. I spent a lot of time working out at the same gym as Penny, when he wasn't at the courts on campus. I wasn't good enough to make it on the Tigers team but played in many games with the guys before they did their afternoon practices or played their nightly games. The best way I can sum up Penny...Anfernee is not a bright man. He dumb. Not even smart enough to get a 400 on the SAT.

I find it extremely difficult to believe this same guy, the guy that had troubles tying the shoelaces on his kicks, would make a good division I NCAA basketball coach. Penny was a great player. Would make a great recruiter, great conditioning coach, great PR guy, but head coach? puhleeze. Don't believe what i'm saying is true? Just ask a certain member and coach, now banned on this forum, what he thinks of Penny's mental aptitude. Penny's mental talents aren't exactly a well kept secret around town.

If this is true, and I'm not doubting you but don't have firsthand knowledge myself...anyway, if this is true, then I hope he is smart enough to know what he doesn't do well and bring in someone like Larry Brown to mentor him.

Assuming all of this about him becoming coach pans out, of course.

As long as Penny is intelligent enough to surround himself with smart people he’ll be fine.

Does anyone really think Larry Brown would ever sit on the bench as an assistant with a guy with zero college coaching experience?

Considering how Larry Brown was fired at SMU for violating NCAA rules, why should the University even consider him at all?

I don't think Rudd lets Brown or Lawson on the staff but they may in the end not interfere with the staff process.

Did you hear him on the radio last week? He's probably already bought a condo downtown.

"I" didn't say anything. Just things I've heard from people who know the guy, that fall in line with the previous post.

I hope Penny wins ten straight national titles and becomes the Nick Saban of college basketball. My fear is that after the initial excitement wears off, is that in a couple of years we'll be clamoring for a 5th place AAC finish. People keep talking about Tubby's "ceiling", while not aware of Penny's "floor".

Look they screwed up hiring Tubbah. People aren't showing up to watch and recruits aren't coming to play. They backed themselves into this hole. They are all in on betting the Come that Penny will bring immediate players/results and folks will show up to the Forum again. If it all crumbles, there is no one to blame but the rich guys.

Penny Hardaway was a Prop 48 casualty. He had to get a presidential exemption to get into the University and had to sit out his freshman year.
