That's fair, but doesn't change the fact that over the course of the season Cincinnati has been the better team by every objective measure. You're talking about that one specific game.

Ok

Bolded part ... They are the "Best team" by one basket. Frankamp's shot falls and they are no longer the best team in the league. I think you can make an argument for Cincy, WSU or Houston

They are ahead in every human poll. Have the highest kenpom, sagarin and bpi rating. They finished 2 games ahead in the league. Yea the league came down to that one game, but over the course of the season there is no denying Cincinnati has been the best team in the league.

Up for debate .. but ok.

Literally every objective measurement says otherwise, but Stickboy doesn't agree so there's that.

Also adding to that... UC's conference Efficiency margin was .26 points per possession. Wichita was third at .15 points per possession. Houston was second at .18 ppp.

Again...every objective measure.

1 point against UC and losses to SMU and Temple

.... no .... Even with those losses. That 1 point is all that decided the 1 seed.

But back on topic. I'd give equal odds to UC, WSU, UH. Any one of those three has a good shooting weekend and it's over. Maybe we will get lucky and all 3 will be hot.

The fact that we played well @ Cincy and did it without Sterling Taplin gives me hope for an upset. But we'd probably have to still play our best game of the season to get it done.

If we do beat Cincy I'd give us a 48% chance at winning it all.

Cincy lost 2 games in conference when the opposing team shot over 40% from 3. Cincy won at Wichita shooting under 30% from 3. Cincy is the better team at all the aspects that are predictable. Any team can beat them if they get hot from beyond the arc.

We really need to devalue that shot a bit.

Or shoot just 10% under our average from 3 but sure, let’s say “get hot”.

Should I also devalue the water bottle that prevented a loss at Temple?

Wow, talk about grasping at straws. There is no debate here, but whatever fantasy land you want to live in, I can't stop you.

I voted WSU to win the tourney. I think they will be hungry and play like it. Might be another classic on Sunday, though I truly believe if UH can find some consistency, they could easily win too.

Yes Cincy won the league. To act like they ran away with the league is not correct.

Can we stop with this garbage about UC only winning @ Temple because of the technical?

They were down by 2 with 2:20 left in the game WITH POSSESSION when Dunphy had the water bottle incident. They hit 1 free throw from that technical.

They gained 1 point from that technical and won by 2. Sure, that one point helped, but they weren't assured a loss without it.

No, they didn't 'run away with it'. But to debate whether they were the best team in conference this year is ridiculous. And then to double down like only that one shot mattered in that game or over the course of the entire conference season is even more absurd. You do realize you had a basket in that game bounced off one of our players' heads right?

Ok .. they were the best team by 1 point. I don't see how this is so hard. If they were the best team without a doubt, the conference 1 seed doesn't come down to a last second shot.

And if you guys don't get a basket off of Cumberland's head...

This is the dumbest argument.

UC has the highest poll ranking, Sagarin, KPI, BPI, KenPom (the Shocker's gospel in the preseason), won the league by 2 full games, and had the best per game point differential by almost 5 points per game.

They were the best team in the league. Case closed.

Soooo ... you are denying they would have not been the 1 seed if WSU makes that last shot?

Who is on Fantasy Island?

But what if one ball doesn't bounce off a player's head and go through the basket? What happens then?

Also adding to that... UC's conference Efficiency margin was .26 points per possession. Wichita was third at .15 points per possession. Houston was second at .18 ppp.

Again...every objective measure.

Yet One basket falls that didnt ... and Cincy in no longer the 1 seed ... All I'm saying. I can say you won the league by 1 point. You can say you won it by two games. We are both correct.

Fantasy land? Answer this. If that ONE SHOT falls, who would have the 1 seed?

Yes Cincy won the league. To act like they ran away with the league is not correct.

But what if one ball doesn't bounce off a player's head and go through the basket? What happens then?

Then that last second 3 could’ve gone in and we’d have had five extra minutes of free basketball and an even higher tv rating!! Damn that overtime would’ve been fun to watch.

My heart couldn't have handled overtime in that game.

No idea ... Could have bounced to a WSU player and they hit a 3. There were lots of bounces that went Cincys way too that contributed points (just not so direct). Lots of variables that far into the game.

Having a shot to win as time is expiring though ? That's a little more relevant.

Nice first post..
