Would be cool if Cincy or WSU could pull it off; even better, if Houston did.

We'd have as many bids as the Big 10 & Pac 12 are projected to have. That would go a longer way than having 3 in with Cincy & Wichita having a 2 seed instead of a 3.

Gonzaga has done very well and was close to winning it all last year. But that doesn't mean that the WCC is considered one of the top conferences in the country. To me, as a league you want as many teams in the tournament as possible. To me, that's how you gain prestige as a conference.

exactly

And you want to know how to lose said prestige just as quickly? Send a bunch of teams to the Dance and do literally nothing with most of the bids. #Vatican #ChurchLeague #Pee #Dregs4Life

Not sure if you're joking, but nobody cares about that. ACC sent 9 teams last year and only 1 made it to the sweet 16. It didn't exactly hurt their prestige. They're poised to get another 8 or 9 teams in again this year. Good chance as any that only 1 or 2 will make a deep run. All that matters is how many you got in.

We're not talking about "a bunch" of teams. We're literally talking 3 vs. 4.

You not skeered of getting past Memphis?

Memphis hah! Memphis hasn't scared Tulsa for a while.

Short memory?

RE: AAC Tourney: Do we want...
I think any reasonable AAC fan would want the conference to maximize their potential NCAA bids each season, but the reason why there's any debate on the topic this season is because there is not a legitimate contender for a 4th bid at the moment.

Tulsa has one Q1 win on the season. The chances of them pulling 2 upsets in the AAC tournament to win it all are incredibly slim.

Temple has lost 4 of their past 5 games. The chances of them making a run in the AAC tournament look more bleak than any other point in the season.

UCF has one Q1 win on the season as well. They have a lower performance ceiling than Tulsa.

I gotta be honest. I'm still suffering the effects of 2000 and Kenyon's leg snapping. I want to win the conference tournament, but if we lose in our first game with no injuries I truly don't care. I get woozy every time I see Evans limping around.

That said, I think Tulsa is deserving. Those dudes lit us up when we played.

However, I'd throw my support to good ol' ECU. They're a good natured bunch and by golly, they deserve to have something good happen for them.

Exactly. I was hoping for Temple and still would be other than the fact I have almost zero confidence in their ability to win a single game in the Big Dance. And Tulsa/a battered UCF? No chance.

Meanwhile difference between 2 and 3 seed is 10% more likely to advance in the first round, 12% second round, double the chance in the Elite 8, 10% more in Final Four.

The difference between 3 and 4 is much less. A 5 seed is actually worse than a 6 and pretty just about worse than a 7.

Houston is right on the cusp of a 5 seed. Worst scenario would be Houston beating WSU and then losing to Cincy.

I could see Cincy with a 3, WSU and Houston with a 5. TRAVESTY!

But we would be just as happy for them to get out the first round.

No ****. Baby steps.

There isn't a coach or player in the entire city of Cincinnati that understands the pressure of March Madness. A realistic goal would be to win 2 games.

Newsflash- there isn't a player on the Wichita State team that's been any further than Cincinnati in the tournament.

When Wichita made the final four there wasn't a player or coach on the team that had been further than these UC players have been.

UC makes the tournament every year. They get the pressure. UC hasn't made the sweet 16 in several years, but quite honestly none of those UC teams were really top 16 caliber teams. This is Mick Cronin's first top 20 kenpom team (a ton have hovered between 20-40). This team is #4 kenpom. It's just a different level of team that will be held to a different standard. The players know what march is about, now they have a team that should be able to make a run. Time to take care of business.

There is a culture of NCAA winning installed at Wichita State now. Gregg Marshall is probably THE best coach in the nation in overachieving in the tournament. He runs a type of offense that is very difficult to prepare for unless you've played against it (his words not mine). Mick Cronin on the other hand has the exact opposite reputation. Regardless, my fingers are crossed for Cincy this year as the fans deserve some success...
