RE: Coaching Carousel
I think ECU's best chance at building something would be with Moton or Dooley. But it's going to be tough for any coach to succeed there.

Agree with all of this.

Both were high up on my list last year! Selfishly, i'd like to see them get neither!

Yep... The Greenberg reports about him being a candidate felt eerily similar to Lebo. That old coach looking for second chance rarely works out. Especially at a school with no basketball history. Lutz would be a better hire than him. It seems that Dooley has an offer from ECU but is holding out for the Rhode Island job. I personally think Moton would be a better fit.

Dooley had a shot. Instead, he used it to barter for a better salary at FGCU. I don’t care about him.

Agreed. I feel he's kind of cut from the same cloth as Keatts in the aspect he's always looking for the next best thing, or more money... He nearly took a job as an assistant at NC State while at FGCU. While he's done a good job maintaining success there, I don't exactly consider him a long term option anywhere. I think we got the best option out of the 3 candidates Jimmy interviewed.

Agreed. I think after the unexpected departure, Jimmy was putting a major emphasis on a long term coach and a coach looking to stick around for a while. I also agree that out of the three candidates interviewed, we hired the best one.
We have left Claflin in the dust and are hosting Stanford y’all!
Playing a better schedule like that too will no doubt have a positive affect on recruiting in the next couple years.

While it appears that's what happened, he still could have got a significant increase coming to UNCW.
IF either end up at EZ, they could wind up with some decent squads. I'd prefer them to suck year after year that's more fun

As comforting as that thought is... it only serves to better us if they improve.

Moton pulled his name from consideration at ECU, thankfully. Not that I would be scared of ECU, but I really like him and want him to be successful.

Joe Pasternack was our #1 target, he declined.

I think i'd take C.B over him, but i definitely liked Dooley over C.B. Verdict is still out. Hopefully the future is as bright as some of you think.

Usually the top choice is the first coach to receive an offer.
Lmao.

I'll admit, I had no idea that we extended an offer to Pasternack. Maybe I just forgot.

RE: Coaching Carousel
Dooley most certainly has the best background of the 3.. but he's always looking for the next best thing. He would've bolted if he had success for more money at first chance, just like Keatts. I don't think Jimmy was interested in that. Pasternak doesn't have much history in this area of the country, I just don't know how well that would've worked out. I really think C.B. is vested in taking the program to new heights. Not saying there aren't jobs he would leave for if he had success, and got the chance. But I don't get the feel he took the job as a stepping stone either.
