another article that gives more info and some players opinions on KO
our AD regarding Ollie and the season.
“We just got done with the season and we’re very disappointed, obviously,” Benedict said. “I’m going to take time to sit down and reflect, but we didn’t reach the expectations we have for our program. … We’ll go through the [evaluation] process and we’ll get to the end of it when we get to the end of it.”
Asked if changing coaches was “on the table,” Benedict responded: “I’m not going to answer a hypothetical question at this point in time.”
Christian Vital on Kevin Ollie
“He’s a great coach. Everyone has a whole bunch of stuff to say from the outside, but they don’t know what it is to be in the gym, him supporting us and stuff like that. I’ll leave everyone else to be negative from the outside, but I fully support him.”
Jalen on Kevin Ollie
“I definitely stand for him and I think he’s a great coach,” Jalen Adams said. “He knows what he is doing, he’s drawing up good plays and I definitely think he deserves his job and should be back here coaching. He loves UConn, he would do anything for UConn. Once you get a guy like that, there is nothing better than that. I don’t care what the critics say with the wins and losses, obviously that matters, but it’s a process and it’s not going to happen overnight.”
Jalen Adams on if he is coming back.
“I plan on coming back next year. I have to talk to my parents, I haven’t thought about leaving or anything.” Asked if his decision might be affected by whether or not Ollie returns, he repeated, “I have to talk to my parents.” Adams, who injured his thumb in the game against Houston, went 3-for-11 Thursday. “It was a tough situation for him,” Ollie said, “but he’s a warrior, he’s fought for us all year.”
