It would be nice if it were that simple, but it’s just not that simple.
If JJ really cared he'd recognize his shortcomings, resign, and offer his services as an assistant.

I actually like JJ and think he has a good basketball mind. He is just a crappy head coach. I'd be happy to keep him on as an assistant and he could get healthy without the stress. Lose weight and quit smoking.

Nobody seems to know anything about JJ's contract situation.

Don’t kid yourself. WKU missed a ton of open looks and the kid Elmore had an out of body experience in the second half. He made a ton of individual plays. That’s what stud players do.

Nice. Wish we had one of those.

There were some rollovers that are a bit confusing. But it shouldn’t be more than two years left, and he certainly hasn’t earned an extension.

I don't think I have ever seen a guy hit so many deep threes. Some of those were almost beyond Steph Curry range. Talk about being in a zone.

Maybe Jeff sees the writing on the wall and retires so his buddy Wood doesn't have to fire him. Let Stith be the interim coach for a year and we have a year to try him out, and/or find our next guy.

How would Jones retiring and Stith taking over on an interim basis help at all? Downgrade in head coach (and probably assistant to replace Stith) and then uncertainty that will hurt recruiting.

If Jones retires, Wood doesn't fire him so the personal relationship stays unharmed, and Jeff walks away with his head up after a winning season. We also don't have to pay him for his last year. We get to do a test run with Stith as the HC to see how we like him and how he likes being the top guy. He also coaches his son's last season. If it works great, we offer him the official gig. If it doesn't, we are not contracted to him for the long term. If we keep Stith for a year, we also probably keep our good recruits. It also gives us a full year to find the best new HC we can and raise money to pay them going rate.

Jeff Jones is only 57 years old. He isn't going to retire.

not happening, unless Broderick wakes up in a very bad mood one day.

AS long as Wood is in control, it doesnt matter if Jeff is fired, retires or just sails off into the sunset. It's just gonna be more of the same.

The old regime of Jim Jarrett called for "selective excellence". Unfortunately today we are in the era of " pervasive mediocrity".

As he got better talent he had worse results in the tournament. What I’m saying is, I want energy and passion breathed back into this program and excitement. That starts with the coach. Say what you may about Blaine but I know that man has jumped in the air before with his hands high. Emotion we’ve never seen from Jeff. That’s how you get your players to rally together for you. We haven’t seen our players do that for Jeff
This. The great coaches inspire their players. They inspire confidence. They inspire excitement. They inspire commitment to teammates. They inspire selflessness. They inspire players to perform beyond their limitations. JJ is not that guy.

Exactly, as long as Wood is here, Jeff is as good as we are going to do. Not a fan, but firing him right now would be a disaster.
