It's possible, but we still have no status update on Peneva...

Also, I'm not sure getting the earlier game helps. Think about how excited all those kids are, how amped up. From a competitor aspect, how much sleep are you getting really, not like they're out at night or anything...

But just nerves keeping you up...

I think they reported that he is moving and ready to play. Should not be a huge factor, especially with the addition of a bench of big men that came out of nowhere where. We are an 8 deep team compared to 6 deep before.

Peneva would be a huge loss for the Herd but overall the games WKU played were more physical. We beat WKU up pretty good yesterday. They won but won a few bruises to get the win.

Good luck to both teams. Either will be a good representative in the tourney for CUSA.

Excellent...muahaa!

Between UTSA's Jackson getting hurt the last week of the regular season and USM upsetting MT you guy's hit the tourney jackpot.

Or...maybe we're just playing up to our potential at the right time. We did almost beat Xavier at their place, so it's not like we can't ball.

ODU hit the reg season jackpot, played MTSU/UAB how many times, and how many games in Texas?

And 6-0 vs F_U and UNC-Charlotte.

RE: ***WKU vs Marshall CUSA Championship Thread***
I think Marshall is more rested with having easier games to get here. We jumped out to early leads and kind of cruised to both wins.

WKU not only played better teams, but the games were more physical and ODU game yesterday was close. That is also mentally draining. Marshall also played in CUSA championship game last year.

I think a lot depends on which refs/how the game is called. If its a physical game like WKU/ODU then advantage goes to WKU. If not then I think advantage goes to Marshall.

Obviously hope Marshall wins, but will root for WKU if they get autobid. Looking forward to a good game.

We would have to play out of our minds with a healthy Penava to have a chance. WKU is tall and quick and has bulk in the paint. Not good for us. Hope all our teams do well in the post season.

I don't know. If the game is called loose then you could see WKU with an advantage because of more size and strength inside. But if the game is called tight you could see an advantage to WKU because going inside and drawing fouls is a huge part of our game plan.

Personally, I think the biggest factor is Marshall's three point shooting vs. WKU's three point defense (which has been suspect in most of our losses). Marshall shot almost 43% from three against Southern Miss. If you guys do that again we are sunk. If Marshall is not able to hit the outside shots consistently then I think we probably find a way to win.

I didn't say anything of the sort. You're certainly capable of beating the top teams in the conference but you were lucky to not have to until the title game.

Yeah, we had a favorable conference schedule. Most ODU fans, most years would prefer to play UAB/MT & Marshall/WKU & Charlotte twice to help our SOS. This year our nonconference SOS was pretty weak so an at large wasn't going to happen anyway. Did an easier schedule play a part in us getting a 2 seed over the 3 or 4? Maybe. In hindsight that 4 seed path was pretty easy, that's all I'm saying.

I understand why a lot of people would think that. But the thing that most people are forgetting is that we had to beat Middle on the road to secure that buy in the first place.

Otherwise, I really don't think we would have been able to get to the championship having played four games in a row.

No, you could have beaten UAB on the road and still you needed UTSA to not win both of their final games, which they may have with Jackson. Still WKU played UAB & ODU. You played an injured UTSA & USM. I don't see how this is even an argument that you got lucky in the path to the championship.

Marshall wins. Not close. They are gonna light it up from 3 and we can't defend the three.

We haven't had that in a game in this tournament yet. If both go off for 20+ pts and we play solid defense, we win. This should be a good game.

It's gonna be the opposite of the ODU game. Heck, Western averages 98.5 pts per game against us this year! Talk about a tough matchup. They have the kryptonite, an inside game.

Our only shot is to keep the tempo super quick, lots of shots, Jon dribble driving, kick outs for the three that actually sink...

Yeah, it's a tough matchup.

I think we have to try and push the tempo and try to tire WKU out. 3 games in 3 days is hard, and we've had the easier games.

Penava has to stay out of foul trouble. Obviously Penava and Williams need to be healthy.

Shot them well vs UTSA, too. Our guys like these courts. I thought the baskets would be a handicap, but they're thriving in Frisco.

Granted I only watched part of that first game but they were killing you in transition. They did a lot better getting back than did Marshall. Fatigue would change that some maybe. Obviously, Marshall is not going to play half court ball but if I was D'Antoni id do everything I could to keep them from the rim. WKUs not a great shooting team and fatigue will make them worse.

My heart is with the Herd, but I haven't seen any reason to make me think it's going to be any different outcome other than: perhaps WKU has a slight case of he jelly legs, and it's hard to beat a team three times in one season. I sure hope I'm wrong. Good luck to the tops, but GO HERD!
