Wow, now that I know the league turned down a million dollar bid for this. No, I'm not happy.

As far as the two court set up, I'll liked the fact the Stadium broadcast could cut away to the other matchup when drama ensued.

For example, Marshall and UTSA fans could check real time to the madness of the Southern Miss overtime win during our game. I happened to enjoy that aspect.

It's just about time to show some of us eastern based teams some love.

Just go to the most central city to what is projected to be the top teams in the conference. I think theres a pretty good chance WKU, MTSU, ODU, Marshall UAB, and UTSA will be the top teams again next season. So put the tournament in Charlotte, Nashville, Greensboro, Greenville SC, Raleigh, Knoxville ... any of those would be great. Tell any of them that this tournament will get several thousand hotel rooms booked, meal taxes, customers etc and all we want in return is use of a good arena and some press. Its getting to the point where this conference is just embarrassing.

a few years ago before the big fat tub-o-goo debacle at USM, I was lobbying for the MS Coast as a host in a 3/4 city rotation leaning on the central/east side of the equation.....

now, I see no reason other than to go with something in the TN/KY region....

RE: After the horn: are any still hating on the tournament set up?
There absolutely needs to be a 3-4 City rotation that gives most fans (south Florida may be tough to appease) a reasonable chance at traveling every couple of years. Considering the conference is headquartered in Dallas and has four teams in Texas it is just silly to think Dallas shouldn't be one of those cities.

CUSA doesn't have the luxury of splitting up the men's and women's tournaments (the women's tournament would be a ghost town in that scenario) so two courts is basically a necessity.

Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it should still rotate between Birmingham and Nashville every year

You do not know that (bold part) a fan...FAN on a messageboard told you this.

As for the tourney I thought it was 100% better ran than B'ham. I thought it was more fan friendly, than B'ham. Even by the time we add in another $120 on gas it was way cheaper than B'ham

As for the two courts I loved it. It gave you a chance to watch which ever game that got close. Anyone that says they go to watch EVERY game played and every minutes of all games...having 2 going at once take away from that. You are a very rare bird....1 in a million fan.

Pay $35 and you get to watch your team play plus 3 other games. Check the score on your phone and S. Miss looks like they are hanging with Middle. So you leave court B and 10 seconds later you are watching the game of the tourney till that point.

No one trying to get every freaking dollar out of a fan like UAB...$3.75 fees on tickets, $10 parking and yellow shirts trying to keep someone from moving down from row S to one of the other open 1000 seats that are open. None of that at Frisco. Free parking, not extra fees, hell they gave you a free chicken meal with coke from Raisin Cain. Which was a 5 minute walk from the Ford Center. That's with every ticket . All tickets are GA so fans find a seat and sit down. The fans from the game before get up and let the teams playing have the closer seats.

Don't have to pay $200 bucks and still get a dump of a hotel. 100s of people out front running around playing games, even small kids....lets try that one at B'ham. Walk out of the arena to some great smelling food and pack bar. If you used event parking you had a short walk but lights every where. Very safe, feel to it.

Tourney should be for the fans (other than they players/teams)....B'ham made it about UAB and working to get every penny in your pocket

What a great city Frisco is and other than a illness we will be back. Easy to get around, food in every area and way more than enough of cheap to mid range hotels. Some great deals if you know how to work PriceLine . I do have one complaint....

No Diversity! Not people but homes and most buildings....seems like someone said here's 5 plans every one pick one. And one other....not a lot of older neighborhood and buildings. Seems like this place was all build in the last 20 years.

We drove all over the place and I bet with in 12 miles I saw well over 1000 homes being built from what looked like 350k up. Went by to see the Tyler (I think that its) football stadium. Looks a lot like Texas St, which is one of the nicer ones in G5

That area was mostly rural up to 15 years ago. I remember when the Tollway ended in North Dallas and that was not too long ago. I’m not a big fan of suburban towns. They all look the same to me. I’m sure you couldn’t tell when you entered Plano or The Colony from Frisco.

If meridian had an arena it would still be a nightmare.
Only problem with Biloxi is no second location for the women. We looked under every rock.

Tourney needs to be in either NOLA, B'Ham, or Nashville. Rotating every year and an occasional spot in Houston and Charlotte IN an actual basketball arena. This seems fair. Is this an unreasonable request???

Honestly, there are no places that make any geographical sense in CUSA. We are too bloody spread out. It's time to embrace the USA in CUSA and go to Vegas. Maybe move the tournament up a week too. The men can play at MGM Grand Garden Arena, the women can do early rounds at the Cox Pavilion at UNLV and then slide over to MGM. No more of the two courts at the same time nonsense. Yes, it is further for the Eastern schools. But it's Vegas. I will consider going to Vegas for four days even if I think we are going to get bounced on day one. I could get my girlfriend to come too and I can only get her in The Ted two, maybe three, times a year. I'm not doing to do either for the current nightmare setup in Frisco. Is Vegas a great idea? No. Is it an awful idea? I have no idea but the optics are better than playing at JerryWorld Light in Frisco.

Why not Las Vegas? The PAC 12, MWC, WCC and WAC all have their conference tournaments there. Only the MWC has a team there.

Very much agree. Not a fan of the setup at all and I let our AD know. People talking about the TV experience vs the in game experience...I'm here to tell you both were amateur hour.

Also, our AD told us Frisco put in a bid for exactly $0 to host this tournament. Birmingham put in a bid for $500k and El Paso bid $1M. So in a conference where every school desperately could use more money to compete, let's take the option that gives everyone zero dollars!

I had heard that Judy and her cronies got into a tiff with UAB brass, and that's why Birmingham was out of the picture. It was a "personal" thing. It was not about what was best for the conference.

Definitely not the worst idea. I think somewhere in the Nashville/Knoxville/Bristol/Roanoke corridor would work with UAB, MTSU, Marshall, Charlotte, WKU, and ODU in driving distance. Problem is that Nashville (Bridgestone) and Knoxville's (University of Tennessee) areanas hold 20,000+, which would look horrible and Bristol Arena doesn't open until 2020. That leaves Roanoke, which has the perfect sized arena but is, well, a dump of a town. I don't care because I'm there for basketball and I'm driving and only paying for gas and lodging, but having scores of other things to do seem to be important to others.

I might travel to Vegas or maybe even South Florida or Orlando. Since I am shelling out family vacation money, I can double it as a family vacation.

Not doing that in a Texas suburban town and I have already experienced Dallas and Fort Worth and don't really need to again on my own dime. Nice area, but not sacrificing a vacation for it.

Think it's time we change the conference tournament to a 4 team playoff, with the higher seeds hosting. Play on Wednesday and Saturday of championship week. We're just spread too wide to have a greatly attended conference tournament.
