Selection Sunday
Nice little article that runs down NCAA tourney selections based on RPI.
Would have been interesting test cases had Temple won vs WSU. 18 wins top 45 rpi, and 15 losses are the edge of metrics for the power conferences. Had they got in it would have confirmed the committee viewing us as a major conference.

Tulsa is out of the dance, but I am going out on a limb and say Tulsa makes it in as one of the last NIT teams. Like maybe the very last one.
Cheer for Princeton, if they win it will probably lock us in.

If Tulsa makes it to the NIT they would be like one of the last 2 in. Tulsa's rpi took a pretty hard hit losing to Memphis. Memphis then losing I expect Tulsa took a double hit. Currently 90 rpi from former around 71 rpi.

Yes, probably the very last one in. That Princeton win makes me feel better. Maybe second to last now.
100 teams make the post season, there are 11 automatics for this year's NIT. We are right there.

RE: Selection Sunday
If you lose to teams ranked like 200 and beyond in the OOC schedule you might as well be the walking dead for getting in the Dance or the NIT. Its not going to happen. Unless you can knock some teams in conference ranked 75 or better. Didn't happen for Tulsa probably wasn't going to happen. Its all about how your coaches can recruit. If you don't get any of those break through recruits by year 4 its not going to happen. Coach is simply looking for a paycheck. If AD extends him beyond one year extensions get a new AD. Tulsa has maxed out under Haith.

That Haith contract extension thread going on the Rivals board is full exactly I was talking about when I was referencing to drinking the CoolAid and wearing blue and gold glasses. Some people have a hard time seeing reality as it is. There is a time for supporting a new coach and then there is the cold reality that your four coach just isn't going to get the job done if he hasn't done it already. Tulsa didn't just lose OOC games that killed any chance of post play. Haith was simply out coached in some of those games.

Walls are reinforced no Kool aide man busting up in here.
I don't know if he was out coached on the floor. But some of those early losses could very easily be preparation issues which is still on him.
I think the jury is still out on him.
However being guilty of wtf losses to 200+ RPI teams will cost him his job. As we can see with Lamar one monumental mess up can cost you the post season.
I'm not sold on him as a tournament type coach either. He reminds me of Roy Williams, you may go on streaks but you'll win consistantly and systematically with him. That's not great for Tourney runs, but builds great regular season teams.

Against average coaches Haith has been ok. Against the coaches at the top of the AAC not so good.
