Cacok Rises To First-Team All-District

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW junior forward Devontae Cacok, the nation's leading rebounder, has moved up to First-Team NABC All-District 10 in balloting by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Cacok, a 6-7, 240-pounder, shattered several rebounding records during the course of the 2017-18 season and finished with 431 boards in 32 appearances, gathering the most rebounds in a single season at UNCW and third highest in CAA history. He was a Second-Team All-NABC District 10 pick one year ago.

The Riverdale, Ga., product paced the team in scoring with 17.7 points per game and also topped the club on the glass with 13.5 caroms each contest. He made 29 starts and shot 58.5 percent from the field.

With his 13.5 rebound average, Cacok is trying to lead the nation's NCAA Division I players in a statistical category for the second straight season. He finished first in field goal percentage one year ago when he connected on 80 percent of his shots as the Seahawks captured their second straight CAA title.

RE: Cacok: First Team All-District
It appears that these "All District Teams" are basically the coach's version of All-Conference Teams, without the conference labels. So basically Cacok was once again named first team all CAA, but this time by coaches only.

Pretty cool video of Devontae Cacok speaking at a 5th grade graduation. Great to see a star athlete like himself care so much about UNCW and the community. He stuck around here when times got bad, when he could've easily left like the others. An All Time Great Seahawk on and off the court!

Truly a very special human being. Any coach, team or school would benefit from his presence. UNCW is indeed fortunate to have such a representative.

He's my youngest son's favorite player and also one of mine. A legendary Seahawk player that may just get his name in the rafters. My hope is that he doesn't get hurt and has a great senior season.
