I wouldn't say you are a better job than Georgia. You have had a good run but Georgia has had some good years. You recruit a whole lot better to Georgia than mtsu. Also you only have to really compete with U.K. And uf in the sec.

Georgia has had some good years? You mean after Dominique Wilkins?

In a perennial multi bid league, with a far bigger budget, Georgia has as many NCAA appearances in the last eleven seasons as we do in the last six.

And for all the good only having to compete with UK and UF has done them, they just can't get it right. I've lived almost 30 years in Georgia and nobody cares.

Fox would be a fantastic fit for us... similar style, recruiting pipeline.

Good teams will lose their coach, good programs will keep rolling. Let’s see how aggressive the AD at MT gets. I hate to see Kermit leave, but a couple years he could retire with the money he will get.

Might as well ask Thad Matta and Tom Crean. Only thing they can do is say no. I'd also look at Steve Forbes.

Forbes was looked at by Ole Miss and just signed a major extension. Really hoping we talk to Matta, Crean, and Fox - as you said, worst they can say is no.

I guess White from Tech is the exception right now. But White went to a semi-hoops school. All about the foosball in Mississippi.

Ole Miss is probably the worst hoops job in the $EC

They think going to the nit is just fine. Probably easiest gig he will ever have

Ole Miss damn sure won't start scheduling USM anytime soon.
I hate Ole Miss, so I now hate Kermit Davis. That's just how it's got to be.

Don't be so sure. He may actually do it. Hope he keeps the MT-Ole Miss series going too...

2 different situations. They play us in NOTHING they dont have to. Baseball being the exception.
The only reason we have been playing them in girls hoops is that JLM helped little Insell get his first gig at La tech. Their hc at the time was a usm guy.

Quote:University officials contended that Davis and assistant coach Fletcher Cockrell furnished false or misleading information seven times in the course of a school investigation about recruitment of Syracuse transfer Tony Scott and talent scout Rob Johnson. The allegations against A&M included illegal travel and lodging inducements.

One of the reasons he was hired. Our AD figured he'd never do that again.

But it doesn't stop your fans from bringing up stansbury allegations from when he was an assistant coach 35 years ago.

Eh. Kind of. Kermit was “the guy” from jump street; though word is Ole Miss maybe threw up a Hail Mary to Matta or Crean that was not expected to be accepted

Kermit to Ole Miss has essentially been a foregone conclusion by those around Ole Miss for weeks.

There are two things I am certain of.

1. You are right. Kermit was the target all along and was talking to Ole Miss as early as the end of the regular season.

2. I do not believe Kermit's decision was foregone; however. Had MT gotten the at-large bid there is a good chance that might have been enough to sway his decision. If NCAA stood up there and said this team did exactly what we said all teams have to do then the scenario might have played differently. Instead the NCAA said no more at large bids for schools like ours. That was the nail in the coffin in spite of sizeable counter offer that was made to him, according to the Prez. Kermit made his decision Sunday night.
