RE: ALL HAIL UMBC!!
It finally happened!!!

The big thing about it is that it was a blowout! Not a last second shot.

UMBC did not seem to get better until the America East tournament. Vermont blew them out twice and their last recent loss was to Stony Brook.

They also lost 83-39 to Albany this season.

UVa was +$5900 on the money line in the desert today.
Someone bet $800 on UMBC today and won $16K

That would be pretty cool. UMBC could play some of their bigger games in downtown Baltimore at the Royals Farms Arena. That would enable me to grab dinner after work and walk to arena afterwards to catch a game. I imagine UMBC would attract a decent crowd playing George Mason, VCU and the Philly schools.

RE: ALL HAIL UMBC!!
Just think if the ACC had invited UMBC (all sports but football) and Navy (football only) to replace Maryland.

Navy would be giving up its annual game in Texas, but it could play a neutral site “home” game against an ACC opponent or Notre Dame. Notre Dame could agree to a sixth ACC game every year simply by having Navy count as one of the six games.

Louisville would still be in the American, so no Navy or Wichita State. Wichita State would be in the MVC, Loyola would still be in the Horizon, and IUPUI would still be in the Summit. If America East took NJIT to replace UMBC, then the Atlantic Sun would be in serious trouble right now.

RE: ALL HAIL UMBC!!
I'm interested to see where UMBC goes from here. Programs like Butler, VCU, and George Mason were able to turn unexpected tournament success into invites into better conferences.

I think the A-10 is a little steep for the Retrievers to expect but I could see the CAA bringing UMBC and Fairfield into their fold.

They go home and lose their coach after Sunday’s loss to K State. The real story of the tournament: how the hell did Bruce Weber get back to the Sweet 16?
