I am shocked, you mean the AAC only sends three teams and can't get past the first weekend. Who would have thunk it?

I guess it is karma.

This loss allows you to make fun of UC losing instead of actually refuting my points and engaging in a logic-based discussion (you do tend to "cut and run" when people engage you with facts in a conversation).

That South bracket is an absolute mess. One of Loyola or Nevada is going to play for a chance to go to the Final Four.

The reason why we've seen so many upsets this weekend is there weren't that many upsets early.

We had a fair number of upsets Friday. These are those same teams that played Friday. What we're seeing is the general parody in college basketball this season, especially among the top seeds.

We've had 4 upsets this weekend in rd 2.
Nevada/Cincy- was a 7/2
Texas A&M/UNC- was a 7/2
Syracuse/Mich St- was a 11/3
Loyola/Tennessee- was a 11/3

so in 2 of the 4- it was set up with 7 beating a 10 1st round.

Ahh BS...the results vindicated the selection committee on Cuse. You can make a case for 10-15 different teams for the last 4-6 slots. Cuse was selected twice when whiners like you protested...they have gone 7-1 in the tourney as a double digit seed. Will likely go 7-2 but still a great run for two different teams that were not worthy.

Cincy was terribly overseeded by garnering wins in a weak AAC this year...this is why saying any team that falls below .500% in a league shouldn't make the tourney is stupid. The top 2-3 conference (teams) should not get penalized for playing in a tough league because they lost against a bunch of Top 10-15 teams?

There is also a tremendous amount of chance at play here. It is very easy for a superior team to shoot 30% over an 8 minute stretch and lose. The NBA playoffs will often have a heavy favorite drop game 1 and then win the series 4-1 or 4-2. Basketball is a fickle sport.

Great point...Coach Boeheim made that same point after the First Round upsets.

By that logic, UVA was also overseeded since they blew it even worse than Cincy.

UNC, UVA, Cincy, and Michigan State were all top 10 teams that just got snakebit and ran cold at the wrong time.

This is why CFB fans sometimes call the NCAA Tourney a bad format. It doesn't reward the best teams over the balance of the season. You actually need a 5 or 7 game SERIES if you want the best team.

Spare a thought for Atlanta Hotels now. They literally went into the tournament looking at the possibility of Kentucky/Virginia/Arizona and Cincy/Tennessee/Miami

They literally are going to have to rely on Kentucky fans to take over the city next weekend. (Which they will)

I now really want Kentucky to lose because it would mean a guaranteed major surprise in the Final Four. Hell, Freaking Sister Jean and Loyola Chicago could easily make a Final Four if things keep falling their way.

We are living in a world where we might get a 98 year old nun, Nevada, and a 16 seed battling it out against Kentucky to get to the Final Four. 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

UMBC and K-State is an offensive nightmare, defensive paradise. It is the most entertaining college basketball postseason game I have ever seen.

Cincy didn't have any impressive OOC wins. Correct me if I'm wrong...just going on memory

Good fight by UMBC. They kept it close the whole game.

March Madness is fun. It's not at all fair to the best regular-season teams for the reasons you mention, but it's a lot more fun than it would be to watch college teams play a bunch of best-of-7 series.

3 Big 12 teams in the Sweet 16. Can they make it 4?

I think A&M/Houston would have been worse quite frankly....

I would say so if Texas A&M didn't have the basketball history it had. Texas A&M is a big boy school but historically a lightweight on the court. It's, for one, refreshing to see Houston back for many and it would have been a matchup of regional rivals, it'd have been huge in Texas.

Not just saying that with bias.

Overtime periods should be shorter than 5 minutes. Make them either 2 or 3 minutes. The 5-minute overtime is a rule carried over from the pre-shot clock era. Don't need 5 minutes for overtime when you have a shot clock.

Normally I'm okay with changing archaic rules but this is fine. That said, OT periods could get shorter as you move forward. All you need is two minutes each after the first one. End the game already. But 5 minutes allows a team to build a lead and for another to come back.

5 is fine for the first one though. The one I don't get is soccer and why it's not sudden death.
