RE: Wichita started movement
I looked at the title of this thread and figured it was just another WSU **** the bed thread. The WSU-AAC deal was beneficial to all parties.

I say we're good now unless we want to go a whole EAST/WEST two division deal.

East: Cincy, UCONN, TEMPLE, ECU, USF, UCF, Tulane, (Navy FB)

West: Memphis, Tulsa, WSU, SMU, Houston, (BYU, SDSU)

Unless, of course, Texas and OU want to join us. 05-stirthepot

Only Dook, UNC and Kentucky make more per ticket over GU. GU is doing just fine.

Ouch. BYU fans are good folks, great school with a national following. Probably not a good fit for the AAC, but they would be a nice addition to any conference they join.

Gonzaga - no thanks. Weirdo school, no football, far west coast.

I think you have the 2 switched up.

I would take BYU any day of the week over Gonzaga - for multiple reasons - and no, to me, I don't have the two mixed up or 180 out. BYU isn't coming to the AAC so it's a moot point. Gonzaga can stay up there in the Washington woods for all I care and I'm hoping FSU ends their season so we don't have to hear anything about them until next March.

RE: Wichita started movement
I think we should hold out for BYU football. All it should take is for them to have a few good seasons, and hit the ceiling of their Las Vegas Bowl affiliation. Playoff expansion to 8 teams would add pressure to get in a conference.

BYU adds nothing and is too far west. The conference is too stretched out as is.

I wouldn't say they add nothing, but I also don't like the idea of western expansion. 12 seems like a good number for all sports.

That line was used an hour ago. You basically wiped with the same sheet of toilet paper twice.

I'm not a fan of western expansion either. It's funny to think now, but almost 30 years ago I took an Athletic Administration class and our Athletic Director predicted the movement to "super conferences" and the move from regionally aligned conferences. At the time, I just couldn't see it, but that's what we have today. I guess the Metro at that time and a handful of other conferences were spread out, but I wound't consider any of them super conferences.

To look at the Big 8 footprint then to the Big 12 footprint now, SEC expansion west to Texas, the ACC all up and down the Atlantic Coast, my old AD was spot on wasn't he?

Seems like he was.

I have to think that the TV bubble will burst someday and the money that has driven all of this change will dry up. I suppose when that happens we will see another wave of realignment back so geographically sensible conferences.
