Just for clarity's sake, you guys are going nuts about a 3* point guard...right? I'm just making sure I'm not looking at the wrong Alex Lomax from Memphis, TN with offers from basketball powerhouses such as LSU and California.

Prepare for the MT.org invasion. It appears to have already started. At least tigercanes is still banned.

Nope that's him. WSU fans wanted him because he fit into Marshall's system very well. I have no idea what type of system Penny runs to know if he will fit in there.

Memphis fans wanted him because he's from Memphis and because WSU got him when Tubby couldn't.

He is better than his star rating though IMO.

Gregg Marshall had the reputation of a malignant douch bag in the MVC and had his way with every team he faced. Now he's in this conference and he's "pure class" and we put the weakest minded team on the court in maybe 10 years. I'd like the D-Bag back with the "D" standing for dominator.

We agree on something. I'm beginning to feel sorry for Marshall as well. Probably didn't know what he was getting into.

Considering he's been playing for Penny for years, I bet he fits the system ok

You mean dealing with recruits tied to a coach with designs on committing a hostile takeover of a program while simultaneously ousting a respected, Hall-of-Fame coach, or just basketball in general?

Because if it's basketball in general, Gregg Marshall ain't hurtin'... He enjoys more "winningest team streaks" than about 99% of the coaches in the country. Up until the NCAA debacle of 2018, he was in a very select group for consecutive NCAA wins as well. But it wasn't his fault he had the weakest minded group of players in almost his entire tenure at Wichita State.

But hey, we were still one basket away from the outright conference championship and the overall one-seed in the conference tournament. I bet Penny Hardaway will be willing to trade his entire collection of NIKES for that kind of season over the next couple of years.

I will say one thing for Alex Lomax's decision to return to Memphis... it may have cost him a shot in the NBA...

RE: Rothstein: Lomax has been released from his NLI
It's one thing to recruit NBA players out of high school, it's quite another to develop a player into an NBA prospect. Marshall has done that 4 times so far at WSU by my count with a 5th possibly coming very soon. Lomax is that kind of tweener recruit that Marshall can mold into a player that will get a shot. Does anybody think Penny has this talent? He might, but he certainly hasn't proven it.

I have no idea if Lomax has what it takes physically and mentally for a shot in the NBA, but I know that if he has the raw materials, Marshall will find it and develop it.

Take Shaq Morris for instance: Shaq was nearly worthless mentally and work ethically when he arrived at WSU. All he had was physical talent, coordination, size, and length. After 5 long years of development he may finally get his shot in the league which would be a remarkable if you know his entire backstory.

4-star on ESPN and Rivals, not that it matters much to us, we wanted him no matter what his ranking was.

Just make sure you remember who has the two highest rated recruits coming in next season. And we didn’t feel the need to create threads acting like we just got the number 1 player in the country. Will this be a recurring thing every time Memphis lands a commit? Asking for a friend.
