Justin Johnson ever again. He just has a way of making a timely play to shut the crowd up, or get a rebound that has to be grabbed. Not to mention he does it all as an undersized big man. I’ve hated him for 4 years.

I wish we would have hired DD a year earlier so we could have gotten him at Marshall. Imagine him on our team right now.

Don't forget Giddy Potts. Hated playing him, but massive respect is due for what he did at MTSU.

Not sure I'd call him undersized. Maybe a bit short, but he is a big MFer that isn't going to be moved around.

The thing about JJ is new opponents think he’s some big white plowboy. JJ has always had explosive hops. I can’t count the times guys went up against him thinking they had a layup and JJ pins their ****. He did it a couple times again last night. Did it to USC’s wonderful athletes. They always turn to the ref like he must’ve fouled me and Western is headed the other way with the ball.

Dude is an athlete. Don’t let his tanklike build surprise you. He’ll block your shot then he’ll dunk over you too. His 3 point shooting is a testament to his work. If only it had translated to his free throw shooting he’d be even further up the all time scoring list.

The summer between his junior and senior years of high school I got word he was going to be in Diddle playing pickup ball. Dude walked in looking like a college player already. Got dunked on by George Fant and didn’t back down. A few trips later he dunked on Fant. TJ Price tried to rattle him. No go.

I posted on our home board I’d sign him that afternoon if we could. We couldn’t of course but Ray Harper did in the early signing period. He didn’t win Mr Basketball finishing behind Quentin Snyder of Louieville and Kelan Martin of Butler. Pretty good company there.

If only Tom Herrion knew what talent was outside of the JuCo ranks. Stevie Browning would have played all 4 years in a Marshall uniform as would have Justin Johnson. Johnson was only 35 miles down the road in Hazzard KY (Go Bo, Luke, Uncle Jesse and Daisy) and wanted to come to Marshall. There are a few others Herrion wiffed on or should I say didn't even recruit.

Marshall 2012 recruiting class Stevie Browning should have been in:
Ryan Taylor 6'5 SF, played all 4 years as a starter
DD Scarver 6'2 JuCo SG, played here 1 year and transferred to Texas Southern
Elijah Pittman 6'8 Juco PF. played here both years but was a headcase
Tamron Manning 6'4 SG. played very sparingly for 2 years, transferred to KY Wes. when D'Antoni was hired
Kareem Canty 6'1 PG, Rated a 4 star PG and played one season at Marshall, was dismissed when D'Antoni became HC because of his twitter meltdown running not only the city of Huntington down but also Marshall University

Marshall 2014 recruiting class Justin Johnson should have been in:
Jay Johnson 6'7 SF, played one year and transferred to KY Wes with Tanron Manning, never played at KY Wes.
Shane Hall 6'8 PF, signed LOI to play arrived on campus and left 11 days later, never suited up or even practiced at Marshall

The only player on this list I would have taken over Stevie Browning is Ryan Taylor. And there is no doubt I would have been on Johnson before even looking at Jay Johnson or Shane Hall.

But then again if Herrion would have been that bright Marshall would have never got Dan.

He’s a great player, but I’m glad we don’t have to play against him. I swear he never got fouls called on him.

LOL. That’s because he rarely plays anything resembling defense. He’s gotten better this year but he’d never make an all conference defensive squad.

I think he has sworn off football, but there could be a chance you see him again on the gridiron.
