Shoot, I was liking UConn when they were crappy. Now they'll get some swagger back and their posters will act like they're Wichita great or something. Lol

The Rhode Island board is fun right now.

The A10 to AAC comparisons are fun. Yes both got 3 teams in. Difference? AAC got 3 AT LARGE quality teams with a 2, 4 and 6 seed. They got a 7, and 11 play in and a 12 non-at-large bid stealer. Very comparable ...

Also apparently UCONN hasn't been anything since 2004 ....

But it's pretty clear the directions these two conferences are heading. VCU needs to jump while they can and they are a perfect addition here

I’m no longer really interested in VCU. And they’re a better fit for the A-10. WSU made a lot of sense, but I’m not sure VCU does. We are at 12 in all sports now. It makes sense. I’m not sure VCU gets us any additional money.

Adding another consistent tournament team would be great for the conference. They have a huge fanbase- sell out every game. I was at the weekend sessions of the aac tounament, I know how much our conference is lacking there.

Massive endowment, large enrollment, perfect geographically. natural rival with ecu.

what is not to love?

They recruit well in the a10, would be great to see what they could do in a bigger conference. Added another couple regular season games on CBS

Whoever takes the Pittsburgh job will have another hurdle to climb. Source told ESPN Pittsburgh has just two officials visits left until Aug. 1. Kevin Stallings and his staff used 19 their first year to sign 11 guys, 3 last year to sign 2 guys. Rules are you get 24 over 2 years.

I don't blame them. URI to UCONN is a "lateral move."

ESPN Article:
"URI's offer, per sources, was $2 million per year for seven years beginning in July 2019 with a commitment to build a basketball-only practice facility to be completed within the next two years, along with staff salary increases and the ability to charter for all away games."

If that's true. You sold out hardcore for a school (UConn) that's not better than URI...not in location, not in basketball passion, not in support of a program, not in any way...except 1.1 million I guess...which if you're already going to make $2 million...honestly, the additional money at that point just isn't that meaningful/impactful. Wow...just a new low.

from the URI board...
I can come up with a solid amount of reason why UConn is better then uri

I too also like to turn down 50% increases in pay....

Also:
" UConn was the one job floated that made zero sense and he is going to a team that would be a huge rival if they weren’t dicks afraid to play us. Also the program that killed New England colleg basketball scene by avoiding traditional local rivals. So yeah, F UConn. Enjoy playing Tulane, South Florida, East Carolina and a bunch of conference USA teams in freakin Texas. What a power basketball league! "

I guess Playing Fordham, Duquesne, La Salle is sooooo much better ....

UConn has won multiple national titles. Rhode Island is, well, a pedestrian program in a pedestrian conference.

A program like Rhode Island is a dime a dozen.

I took a look at their board too. Surprised to learn that in New England, Rhode Island and UConn are considered equals.

I notice how when he says "enjoy playing" he only listed the bottom half of the conference while conveniently leaving out all of the schools that are tournament caliber opponents.

The A10 is a Laundry list of teams who made a run then fell off to obscurity.

Agreed .. just saying .. The general thought in the media is that ACC + Higher pay would mean it's a better job ... that's obviously not true.
