If we thought he was a good hire, it would be a threat. Not if we are afraid he's going to tank the program even further.

UCONN hiring Dan Hurley is absolutely a threat to my team finishing above UCONN .. but i absolutely love that hire.

The tag is warranted because it makes the most sense. Of course, you are free to express your opinion but it will not stifle my own.

No actually it doesn't make sense at all. It's just a way for you to make yourself feel superior without any real results yet.

You mean like supposedly having your best team ever, being ranked #6 to start the season, choking away the AAC Tournament, then flaming out against a #13 seed in the 1st round?

Kind of something like that?

No actually has nothing to do with it.. but nice redirection

Underacheiving? Trending downward? Not taking advantage prior to a major rebuild? Does anything at all register?*

*rhetorical question

I hope you guys can get him to Memphis Madness. Could be one hell of a party. As for Penny, I have no idea how good of a college basketball coach he can be, but I said from the start and still think he’s a great hire for Memphis. He will bring in big time recruits and put butts back in seats. He seems smart enough to hire good people around him that can help with the coaching part if necessary.

Any coaching hire is risky, to an extent. No AAC school is going to be able to hire a Bill Self or Ol Roy or K. Two years ago, we hired the most experienced coach out there. He did fine coaching the guys he got, but he ran off almost an entire team, and couldn't recruit a lick.

And he left our APR in bad shape, b/c we had so many transfers on top of those with Pastner's last 2 years.

As said above, Penny can hire experienced coaches to help him with Xs and Os, but he won't need much help with recruiting, which is usually the largest part of the battle.

I’m going on record to predict that Lil Penny will have his jersey retired at Memphis Madness. #1/2.... in his own space in the rafters.
