RE: Et tu, Nike?
Would it make sense that Adidas was the ONLY shoe company doing this? Im thinking---probably not.

Big Shock:
The Oregonian reported that the NCAA has "apparently never looked into the Nike-Bagley relationship, but six experts on NCAA compliance told The Oregonian/OregonLive that the parent-coaches paid to run their kids' club basketball teams could be a breach of amateurism rules."
And yet nothing will happen to rat-face and Duke

To paraphrase Jerry Tarkanian, the NCAA will be so mad at Duke that they'll put North Carolina Central on probation.

Based solely on what was in the article, I don't recall seeing that the author implied that Duke did anything wrong here. They just signed Bagley III, which every NCAA school would have done if they could. Bagley, Jr. and Nike, on the other hand, don't look so clean.
Short of banning all kids who play for an elite AAU team from playing in the NCAA, I don't know what the NCAA or coaches can do until all the amateurism rules are changed. There probably isn't a high school player in the ESPN100 who isn't tainted in some way.

I agree. My thing is who cares. Nike can spend their money however they want in my opinion. I think the whole NCAA players can’t have sponsors is crazy. I don’t not think the university should be playing players (as they don’t pay other scholarship students). However, I see no issue with Sponors paying players. It’s anti American almost not to let them do it.

Duke may not have done anything wrong in the recruiting process. Whether they had any knowledge of this has not been determined. In any case, if Bagley is determined to be ineligible, they would still have to forfeit games and championships.

When the FBI's first reports were issued they indicated that other companies might be involved. So....

Anybody involved in high school athletics the past 20 years could see this coming. The AAU basketball scene is rotten to the core.

And, while it does provide the top players a chance to play against better competition than ordinary high schools can provide, the level of actual coaching they receive in AAU is spotty at best, and non-existent at worst. Not a lot of Morgan Wootens in the AAU ranks.
